I-864 vs I-864A

Unsure of which form is needed for my joint sponsor/household member? (brother).

I (petitioner) am currently living with my wife in Thailand but I maintain a house in the US, my brother lives at that house as well, and all utilities are in my name (eg. water, power and gas). I also work in Thailand with no US income, which is why I need my brother as a joint sponsor.

Living in Thailand was always temporary until I met my wife. We've been together for over 5 years now. So once my wife's visa is approved we plan on living at that same house with my brother, we would be living together as household members.

So my thought process is since we (my brother and I) are NOT CURRENTLY physically living together, he would not be considered a household member. So he would only fill out I-864 as a joint sponsor.

Am I correct in my thought? Or should he fill out I-864A instead?

After NOA2 Questions

Hello All,

My Fiancee and I finally got approved after 408 days(NOA1 - May 10th, 2021) and I have ran into a few questions while gather documents for the next steps:

I-134 Affidavit of Support - Part 2, Questions 16 - Benficiary's length of stay

For this question do I just provide a rough estimate for the 3 month window when my fianc e will arrive here?

Supporting Documents for I-134, Employers statement

I talked to my manager, and he referred me to HR. They then provided me a 3rd party website for retrieving this information.

Will that suffice?

I feel like the I-134 instructions specifically state that the statement must come directly from your employer on business stationery.

Conflicting Visas:

My Fianc e's sister is in the US on a J1 visa and transitioning to a student visa.

Would this have any effect on our application?

My Fianc e got worried saying she read on other forums that people were getting denied if they had siblings in the US on multiple visas.

Thank you all in advance!

I need help understanding the correct documents required for the Police and Court Records from Thailand. All of my other documents including the Police Certificate was approved, but this one section has held up our approval. I have read the instructions on what he needs to obtain, but I keep getting different information from the Courts in Thailand. My husband does have a previous history, but has been cleared. When he went to the courts in Bangkok they told him he has to go to Krabi where his original offense was. He has gone there and received a letter standing he no longer has any felonies. What else more is required? I don't want to upload and wait another 2 months to be told this is again rejected. Thank you for your time!

Job offer as reason to expedite I-130 process

Hello everyone, me again.

So a while ago I went to visit my wife in WNY. While I was there she took me to the school where she works at to introduce me to some of her colleagues, etc. It has come to my attention now that her principal is interested in hiring me once my visa is approved. My question is that whether or not this potential job offer would qualify as a reason to expedite the process. It would be as an ESL teacher in an area that desperately needs them, which is why he wants to hire me.

Thanks again for all the help.

AOS Interview with phone interpreter, Form G-1256

In our NOA for the AOS interview the letter states that we may have an interpreter available by phone and we have someone who will do this for us (not a professional interpreter, but fluent in Thai and English). When I was digging into this a little more, I see the USCIS apparently requires form G-1256 from both parties, signed in the presence of the interviewer.

Asking anyone who has used a phone interpreter how they handled this -- thanks.
