Hi All, First of all, thanks to all VJ members for their unmatched support and knowledge of the process! Without you our journey would be a lot harder and unpredictable. We are getting close to having our interview appointment at the US embassy in Madrid. We asked to expedite NVC stage second time on Aug 29 and got approved on Aug 31, but when we got an email from NVC they mentioned the following: Please be advised that the earliest Madrid can schedule this case is November given current scheduling. (also see the attachment). This is really weird as we know that Madrid embassy is being very quick these days and takes 1-1.5 months to schedule interviews after DQ. Without the expedite request we were expecting to be DQ ed around Sep 20, so we would probably be scheduled for the interview in Nov anyways (I understand it is speculations, but it is based on data from 7 people, so there is some legitimacy for that assumption). This basically seems to cancel any time advantage that we may gain after getting expedite approval. The email was received from NVC. How much am I supposed to trust it? Can we ask the Embassy to speed things up? CEAC status check says Ready . Thank you!

Good morning! I hope someone can help me as this is out of my scope. I have a friend who got here on January 19th 2020 with a J1 visa. She got an extension of her J1 in 2021 (new DS). This extension expired on January 19th 2022 and she filed her I-539 Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status to a B2 on December 10th, 2021. She got her fingerprints taken in January 4th but hasn't received any response yet from USCIS. We are scared that she is out of status and overstaying here illegally. Her questions are: 1. Should she send a new request even though she's already past 8 months? 2. Can she change to a F1? 3. Is she illegally staying? 4. Is her Ssn affected with any visa change? 5. What are her next steps/options? Thank you so much in advance for any help!

Hi there! My boyfriend and I are very new into this process, I reside in Canada but I m a Spanish/Venezuelan citizen and would like to move in next June to the USA with him to close the distance. I ve read that the process is taking over two years and it s costly to apply for it. We just want to know an average time of how long it will take and the cost, so we can start it as soon as possible, we are looking to get married in December but if we need to do it before we re open to it. Thank you all so much in advance for your answers.

Hi all! I have begun to think that my USCIS account is showing up a little different than others here for a few reasons. Here's what's going on. I have a pending I-751 and applied online for my N-400 in June. However, on my USCIS account when I log in, the N-400 does not appear under "My Cases" - this is shown in my first screenshot attached. When I click the "View Profile" button under my name, I then see information about the N-400 under "pending cases" - this is shown in the second screenshot I attached. I also tried to use the "Add a case to your account" tool to add the N-400, but it states "You cannot add this case to your account because it has already been linked to a USCIS account" Is this how it appears to others who applied online for the N-400? I get the feeling it is different, people I have heard people mention being able to view Documents regarding their N-400, and I do not have any options like that. Please let me know how it looks to you all

Hello, I am wondering if anyone from Texas could answer this. We have received my husband's SSN + EAD and now made an appointment to get his drivers license. He has an international drivers license but will he need to take the paper exam + drivers test on day of his appointment? I am just wondering so he can start studying if so! Thanks!
