Hey, everyone! I hope I'm posting in the right place. My question is this: how do I prove (to law enforcement, for example) that I am in the United States legally, now that I am waiting for my AOS to be processed? I came to the US at the end of April on a K-1 visa. My I-94 and K-1 non-immigrant visa have both just expired, but my husband and I did get married in the required 90-day period. We sent off my AOS, EAD, and AP package yesterday (while the I-94 and K-1) were valid. My understanding is that yes, I am here legally. But I don't know what proof to show if law enforcement asks me to. Before, I would just show my I-94, but that's not an option any more. On top of that, I would like to renew my driver's license, which expired at the same time as my I-94 (this was the document I used to show legal status). I assumed showing the I-797C form would work, but now I'm not so sure, since that form won't say my application has been approved. Could anyone help me out here? Thank you!

Hello! Not sure if I'm posting this in the right space but I need advice. Immigration lawyers won't answer any calls or emails to even set up a consult. I received my noa1 receipt in the mail the last week of January. I feel really hopeless because it hasn't even changed status to say they're looking at it. I know thats really soon for the process, I get it can take a year or two to get an answer on everything. But this early in the game, I'm wondering if it's better to just get married and go through that whole deal or if at the end of the day, the processes are gonna take the same timeframe. My understanding from the posts I've read is that it's better to switch but I'm so lost. Any info anyone can give me is appreciated. But switch? Why? And how if yes? Thank you in advance!

Hello all! Last year I moved to the US on a K1 visa. I only got my EAD in December 2021. So for the year 2021, I did not have any earned income. I got a job this month (February 2022). On my benefits, I selected a High deductible plan which allows me to contribute to an HSA. On my HSA page it shows that I can contribute to last year's HSA until April 15th. Can I contribute to last's year HSA? Or because I was not enrolled in a HSA plan last year or had income, I'm not eligible to do it? Thanks
