With the announcement that Auckland is moving to "Delta Level 3 Step 2" next week, I was wondering how this may impact the Auckland Consulate. The news says that the Auckland border will remain throughout the "traffic light" system, and the Consulate website states that they are unable to open for any visa appointments with the current restrictions. I guess this question is probably pretty hard to answer, but I thought I'd try anyway. Any ideas when the Auckland Consulate will re-open for those outside of Auckland to have their visa interview, and how backed up the visa interviews may be by that point? I am moving to the US in a couple weeks but my wife will stay in NZ until her interview can happen. We always expected to separated for a bit during the NVC stage, but it'd be ironic if the delay ended up being caused by COVID restrictions in NZ!

Hi, Just wanting some advice from people who have been through the k1 process. We have a financial sponsor as my fianc is a student and earns just below the poverty line, however, we are having some issues with their taxes. Long story short, they had to file an amendment as the tax transcripts are wrong for their 2019 taxes, then their 2020 taxes got lost in the mail and IRS hasn't processed the ones they refiled, nor have they processed the amendment. We are wondering if it would be okay to have 12 months of payslips, the 1040's, the W2's, the unamended 2019 tax transcripts, an employment letter and a bank statement for the last six months/year to bring to the interview instead? Plus a letter with our sponsors explaining the situation. I am also going to ask the embassy whether this will be possible, but I just wanted to know everyone's thoughts? It's at the Auckland embassy if that helps at all :) Appreciate your help!

Hi, Im currently going through CR1 process. At the moment we are waiting for NVC to DQ our documents. I am the only one on the initial petition but I have two children and read that I maybe able to add my children to my application once I have been given an interview date. I m unsure how accurate this is. Does anyone know if there is a chance I can add my children to my CR1 this far into the immigration process or am I required to do another CR1 application for them? Thanks Steve

Hi, You probably get this a lot, but does anyone have any tips for getting in contact with NVC for our NVC Number? We received our NOA2 over a month ago, and haven't been able to get in touch with them. Every time we call there's only an automated message that tells us to call back later; we've tried a few times. We've also submitted a request online however, I think it's taking them about 8 weeks to get to the online inquires. Any advice? Or should we just wait? Thanks.

Hey Everyone, Thanks for all the help on my initial post. We ve decided to choose the CR1 visa instead of K1. We do have a few questions We are about to be engaged and then will do a small ceremony right afterwards - Is there any length of time we need to be married for the CR1? Or I guess will it look bad if we re only married for a week and then file the application? Obviously a lot of our friends/family cannot attend due to NZ being on lockdown and we want to plan a large ceremony when we get back to the USA. We have already lived together for a year in NZ and then another year in the USA when I was on H1B so proving the relationship is no big deal just didn t know if the length of time married is an issue Ideally we want to do the official marriage in NZ because if we don t then no choice but to do K1 which we want to avoid Also if anybody has an idea of how long CR1s are taking and if it depends on country? We re applying from NZ. Thanks!!
