IR1/CR1 - Two year question.

Hello everyone,

my wife and I are getting ready to send in our I-130 application this coming week but are a little confused about what determines how the government chooses between giving us an IR1 or a CR1. I understand the I is for over 2 years while the C is under. Does the fact that we will probably be married for over two years by the time our visa is approved mean that we will automatically get the IR1 instead of the CR1, or is that something that is decided earlier on in the process? I am sure that this question has been asked before but I appreciate your help. Thank you

K-1 Visa: Reporting Address History After J1 and B2 Stays – Help Needed!

Hi everyone, I m preparing my K-1 visa application and have a question about address history. I d really appreciate your advice!

Here s my situation:

I was in the U.S. on a J1 visa from 2022 to 2024.

Before my J1 ended, I applied for a change of status to B2 (tourist) while still in the U.S., and it was approved for 6 months. (Note: This was a change of status, not a new visa.)

In my change of status application, I mentioned that I would be staying with my boyfriend, but I referred to him as a friend because, at the time, I wasn t planning to marry him or adjust my status based on our relationship.

During my B2 stay, I lived with him in different places: 1 month in New Castle, WA; 1 week on a road trip while moving to California for his new job; 1 month in an Airbnb; and then in his new apartment.

My question is: Do I need to include all these temporary addresses on the DS-160 and I-129F? I m worried because I didn t report address changes during my B2 stay, and I m not sure if these count as residences.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

The goal of this thread is to form an up-to-date expectation for wait times for interview assignments at the US Consulate in Ciudad Juarez in 2025.

I want to unite Visa Journey members with approved I-130 family based petitions in preference category 1 (FB-1) (US Citizen Petitioner). This thread is for you if:

  • You have an approved I-130 FB-1 Visa Petition
  • You have completed your DS-260 and Affidavit of Support with NVC and are Documentarily Qualified (DQ'd)
  • You are waiting for an interview in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

If this is you, please share the following information with the thread.

  1. Date you received notice from NVC that you are Documentarity Qualified (DQ'd)
  2. Date you received an interview assignment from NVC (if you have received one)
  3. Date of your interview (if you have received an interview assignment)

My hope is that this info will help you and the petitioners who come behind us. I will be organizing the info and sharing statistics here.
