Hey guys!

I came here in June 2020 on a green card from Lebanon. I spent ~2 months in June 2020 - August 2020, then came again in December 2020 and spent ~1-2 months till Late January 2021. Afterwards, I came in June/July 2021, enrolled in college in the US, stayed till approx September October 2021 (college was online at the time), then went back to Lebanon. Did college online and then moved here to the US permanently in January 2022. Will I be eligible to apply for citizenship this summer? My physical presence has been more than 2.5 years but I'm worried they won't count that first year where I went back and forth as residency. I had to do college In Lebanon because it was too late to apply after I got my green card

I never stayed more than 180 days outside the country.

Hello everyone,

I have a situation with my family and I am looking for some insight and/or suggestions:

My spouse and I are LPR's. We filed I-130 for our son (under 21) and it was approved last year and case at NVC. PD is few years away.

My wife and I were in Lebanon visiting our son and then the war started. We couldn't find any available seats on departing flights. The U.S. embassy posted on their website that they are assisting US nationals to evacuate on flights that they are arranging. We contacted them and they assisted us to evacuate on one of these flights. The took us to Turkey. My wife, my son and myself. They said that's where their role ends. We have to make our own accommodations to whether stay in Turkey or go the U.S. or anywhere in the world.

What are our options? We are unable to leave to the US and leave our son alone in Turkey for many reasons. One of them is the financial burden. We can't pay rent and bills in the US and another rent and bills in Turkey. Going back to Lebanon is not an option for a while since the war is intensifying.

Is there any kind of program or visa that allows our son to join us in the US for a period of time? We are trying to figure this out and not sure what to do. We extended our vacation from work as unpaid leave. We are currently staying in a hotel that is costing us a lot of money on daily basis.

Thank you

Hello everyone.

I am asking this for a friend:

US citizen met a person who is in the USA on a J1 visa. They have been dating for a while and thinking of getting married. This is the 3rd year the foreign person comes to the US on J1 visa.

The J1 visa will expire in 2 weeks or so. They don't have home residency restrictions. If they decide to get married, is there a way for them to stay here without having to go back? Also, will their overstay be forgiven if they get married after their J1 visa expires?

Thanks

I am an American-Canadian employee of the United Nations. For nearly 3 years, I have been stationed in Beirut, Lebanon. My wife is a Canadian citizen with no US status.

I might be accepting a position at headquarters in New York City soon, but I really hesitate on this due to the long timelines of applying for a Green Card.

I was recently reading about Direct Consular Filing -- is this actually a possibility? Does anyone know if this can be done in Beirut?

Can this be done pre-emptively, or must it wait until I actually have an offer in hand?

Hello everyone I'm seeking your help if anybody knows what is going on with wife's n400 form. So she had the interview 3 days ago. she passed her civic test but officer said decision cant be made since she filed before three years even though when we filed it was two years and 9 months. Today I checked the status it says On May 14, 2024, we received your request to withdraw your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number ********** and completed our review. We mailed you a Withdrawal Acknowledgment Notice. If you do not receive your Withdrawal Acknowledgment Notice by June 13, 2024. Anyone familiar with this? we didn't request any withdrawals. I appreciate your help. thank you god bless
