Hey again! Filing our I-130 online. Going to finally file it this weekend! I'm currently trying to upload a file that is 5.6MB big (about 50 pages) and it is taking...forever. Like it has been 30 min and it's still not uploaded. Is this normal? Or is the USCIS site being buggy? Should I just try again tomorrow or just be patient? Thanks!

Hello. I'm a military spouse and a U.S. permanent resident. We're PCSing to Japan next month. Due to the medical reasons, EFMP didn't recommend me to travel overseas (mainly because of the medications I used to take in the past). Because of this, command sponsorship was denied, meaning my name is not on the order my husband received. Thankfully I still have a Japanese citizenship, and will have healthcare when I move there, so I decided to accompany him. My main concern is the USCIS might think I've abandoned my permanent resident status by going back to my home country. We've contacted USCIS military help line several times, but each time we talk to them they give us different answers. Some told me we should file I-131 (request for reentry permit) before we leave, but it expires in 2 years and we'll be in Japan for at least 3 years. It means I might have to come back to the States to file the form again or pay fines when coming back for overstaying. Some agents told us we could file it when we come back to the States, but said it's "totally up to your decision," which confused us even more. I understand as a military spouse, I may still be allowed to reenter the country even with the expired green card, but I'm still worried that I might have issues with USCIS because of it. We've scheduled an appointment with the military base legal office to discuss about our situation next week. Did anybody experienced the same/similar situations? The reason why we still haven't figured this out yet is because EFMP process took so long and my husband received the official order less than a month ago. Since we don't have much time until we leave the country, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I just changed my address online, and it directly asked me if I have anything filed currently, as I have I-751 I entered that information. What I am curious is, is there any need for me to file a separate one to update my green card address? or they will update all related to my alien number? * I am having extremely hard time posting for some reason, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Hey all! We are currently filling out the I-130a, and just want to double check: for Part 7 Additional Information, is there an "Item Number" for Address History (Page 1, Part 1) or for Employment History (Page 2, Part 2)? We are using the official form attached to the I-130a to fill the additional info out. Thanks!

I am in the process of working on the I-864 and then submit to the NVC. My situation isn't typical, so I figured I would just mention it here. I work overseas in Japan as a military contractor. As a result, I qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion. This is nice in that I get tax breaks for working overseas; however, my IRS tax transcripts exclude my wage income when computing my adjusted gross income. I know if this goes directly to the consulate due to a hardship this isn't an issue; however, that is not my situation. I have W2's and records I have wage income above the poverty threshold for a family of 2. I was also going to submit proof of assets in case the NVC doesn't understand my situation. I've already talked with my financial institutions and it looks like a proof of assets is something that can be done. What would be easier, trying to tell them I make above the poverty in wage income with W2's and explain why my Adjustable Gross Income is low according to the IRS due to my unique situation, or do I just go to the proof of assets and not even bother? Thanks!
