Like many others, my fianc and I are waiting for a letter to come from the NVC, but are delayed until the embassies actually open. I'd imagine an influx of operations to go through then the embassy finally does open, so we feel it's a good idea to plan in advance. We personally feel that it is safe to assume a 6 month window when it does happen (which is in line with the expiration date from the medical checkup). So provided this, we are committed to get all the other requirements done; one of which is the medical checkup. This requires a flight to the required location, but it also allows us to get several other things done. We do not have any specific questions about the process, but just wanted to get an opinion from others about this. Are our thoughts reasonable?

my wife had her biometrics appointment in march and in april they changed it to be ready to be scheduled for an interview as the status. we received an rfe for her birth certificate being in a different language so we did an official translation and sent it before the end of the month. To this day the status has not moved and we have not received a interview request. we are in orlando florida. Everytime we call uscis they dont have much info. I am guessing this delay is due to covid. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Hello, We ve been approved since june 29th 2020, we got the nvc case number but not the invoice ID. Is that why our case is stuck in NVC? We were waiting for any letter from nvc since july, but nothing came. We emailed them and they only gave nvc case number.

The gov site says to do your medical at least 10 days before interview date. Is this an absolute rule, and, if so, does anyone know the specific reasoning for it? Is it possible to just do your medical the day before the interview, for example? I know this would at least mean you would have to wait longer after the interview to find out if you were fully approved. I will be emailing the embassy, but just wanted to check here and see if anyone has any insight beforehand. Thank you!

We were documentarily qualified (CR-1) at the end of May, and at that time, the email that we received from the NVC said, "NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in JAKARTA, IDSA to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable)." So, knowing that it likely wouldn't be a while until the Embassy in Indonesia reopens, we didn't think much of it and just didn't expect to hear more from them anytime soon. The thing is, now that embassies around the world are starting to reopen and ours started to do interviews for expedited cases, we second-guessed ourselves; should we have contacted the NVC to ask what the status of our case was and where it was? The CEAC website says that my case is currently at NVC. Is that normal? For those who are waiting (or were) in a limbo this whole time, where does the system say your case is at? Is it stuck at NVC even after becoming DQ'd like mine is, or did it get forwarded to the Embassy and has been waiting there the whole time? I'm worried that we had missed a step and now everyone who got DQ'd after we did are already queuing up at their embassy while we're waiting cluelessly at the NVC..
