I know Im getting ahead of myself, but i have a question about affidavit of support.

I think affidavit of support is required for a k1 visa interview (if not definitely for aos). My fiance is planning to leave his current job early next year so when i go for a k1 interview, he may be between jobs and we may need to ask his dad to be a joint sponsor.

The problem is my fiance is the only one in the family who is usc. The rest of his family members are on G-4 visa. My understanding is that a joint sponsor is also needs to be usc or green card holder..

does that mean his dad cant be a joint sponsor, even if his income is far above the requirement? And im not sure if it makes a difference, but G-4 visa is quite unique in a sense that when his dad retires, he can automatically apply for a green card.

if not, can we ask someone who is not related to my fiance to become a joint sponsor?

Hello everyone. So I and my USC husband has been married for 4 years. Before our 4th anniversary a couple of months ago, he left me alone in Denver, drove to his family in California. I didn t see it coming! We had misunderstanding and arguments as husband and wife, but we ve been okay for several days before he left. From then on, I ve been trying to fix our relationship, but he keeps shifting his feelings towards me. Like he just expressed he still love me and will drive back to Denver to be with me and few minutes or hours later, he said the marriage cannot work anymore. Or expressed love interest today and won t hear anything from him in the next 2-3 days. Last week, I went to San Francisco to meet him, to start getting back together again, as we agreed previously. He didn t show up, but his mom and her best friend showed up, and I drove with his mom to their hometown, where he lives now. We met there, we stayed at his mom s house, was okay for a couple of days but had to leave earlier than plan with so many tears because suddenly, he left again, went back to his dad s house and called me that he wants a divorce. I went back to Denver that day, still wanting to communicate with him. We communicated again on and off. For 4 years, his father has been feeding his thoughts that he married a scammer, that I married him for green card, that I am not a real Christian. My husband also had a history of Schizophrenia as a teenager. And I think, even his mother thinks, that he is showing again symptoms of Schizophrenia with Paranoia. I have loved him and I still do. I wish we could still fix our marriage. But there is no way to reach him now, as he sent back to me last week his phone I ve been paying for us. And today, I called his father s landline phone in California (he lives with his dad and step mom now) and my husband s step mom answered the phone telling me that my husband doesn t want to talk to me anymore and to stop calling them. Now, with a heavy heart, I want to file a divorce. My questions are:

1.) Will my divorce be finalized even if my estranged husband won t sign the divorce paper?

2.) Last August 2020, we filed together to uplift conditional status of my green card,

what should I do now that he won t be showing up during the interview (I don t have the interview date yet.)

3.) My husband had been jobless for 7 months until he drove to California and work at Walmart. I have been paying single handedly for our rent, phone bills, storage, auto loan. He has our car with him and he wants to own it alone. Can I still get back some money from all the payments I paid for the car? I make good money with my job now. And the car loan that is supposed to be 6 years maturity, I am able to pay it off for less than 2 years.

4.) Will he be entitled of my earnings and savings although I have it in my personal bank account?

Hi VJ members,

I finally moved to the US 2 days ago. My POE was Dallas Fort-Worth. At immigration, I showed my IR1 visa to the officer and told him that I'm moving to the US. Then he handed me to another officer who led me into a room to wait with other people. I had waited for 1.5 hours until they called my name. The only question asked was to verify my U.S. address. The officer said the green card will be mailed to this address in 3 to 6 months. Then they stamped on my passport and let me out.

On the way out, I was showed to the baggage claim and then continued with my connecting flight. I was confused why I wasn't asked to do any customs declaration step.

Hopefully other stuff (like the unaccompanied personal effects sent through mail) would also be smooth.

Hi. I'm from Hong Kong. Just wanna create a post to record the process and time line of applying K-1 visa during pandemic and (removed) political situation around the world.

We received NOA1 26th Sept 2020.

Received date of application is 8th Sept 2020; Notice date is 13th Sept 2020.

Gonna wait a longgggggggggggg time for next step.

It's so hard to be in an endless long distance relationship again T^T

Hi everyone,

Please let me know if im posting it on the wrong forum. But my question is, if I arrive in the states and need to be quarantined for 14 days (which is required in the state that my fiance lives in), I get tested before we get married, and what would happen, if God Forbid, I tested positive? What would the procedure be? Would they make me leave the country at that point? Will it affect the adjustment of status process (i.e. the medical form)?

Obviously, I would be super careful on my travels to the states, but what if I catch it?
