Withdrawing I-485 to move abroad - consequences? |

Hello! My husband and I got married in February in the US after he received his K1 visa. We submitted his I-485 for adjustment of status shortly after, and are still waiting. We are considering withdrawing the petition, however, as we have an opportunity to move abroad. I'm just worried if there are any ramifications of withdrawing the petition. I know that straight-up abandoning the petition has some consequences, so I'm worried some of those still may apply. Specifically: 1) Will the withdrawal reflect badly if we choose to apply for a marriage visa to return to the States down the road? 2) Will it at all affect his ability to come back to the States to visit on his tourist visa? 3) Once we submit the withdrawal, is there a time limit that he has to leave the country? He has been here over six months now, so he would have overstayed both his K1 and his tourist visa. Any insight would be so appreciated - thank you! Sondra

When my daughter in law submitted all her documents for the J1 Waiver, she was about to get married and stated this in the Statement of Reason. She is now married to a US Citizen and wants to update the Statement of Reason. Here are my questions: 1. Is there a way to update it? 2. Should she create a new one? 3.Should she update it with her marriage status, which is the primary reason for the waiver? Thanks!

Hi! After not finding much in the country portal, I'm curious if anyone else is waiting on an interview for their parents in Honduras? We are still waiting for my husband's parents to be DQ'ed, so it will be a good long while for us. Wondering if anyone has recently interviewed and what the process was like? Or what month they might be on for interviews at this time? TY!

So let me start with my sister s story my sister is from Honduras, she decided to come and seek for asylum with her son ( my nephew ) which they denied at the port of entry (Mexico ) so my sister try getting in with a coyote and my nephew was able to get in and be with my mom , I m gonna be a little clear about my sisters situation since if you know how bad my country is right now you would understand a little better ,there s so much violence and police don t do anything about it , my sister has beeen assaulted , robbed , to the point that she has been threatened to death by the child s father for a long time ....she has paperwork to proof police reports of domestic violence and everything, my sister try to get in by the border a couple of times in which each time she was deported , this last time was different she was trying to cross the river and a police officer started shooting , she ran and hit her head on a rock cutting half of her face and started to bleed , at the end of the day she was deported again , she is at a hospital in Mexico and my only question is , what can she do to come here by the port of entry? Can she seek for asylum ? Can she do something , as a sister I really want to help her I don t know what else to do , it hurts me and I m sure people in here would understand her situation , please help me
