US Immigration from England

Hello everyone.

I am posting here after a long time because I have questions.

I entered the USA on a k1 visa in 2010 and I am on my 2nd G.C. at this point.

I was divorced in 2020, before I renewed my Green card for the second 10 year stint to start.

I still have all of the paperwork from the immigration filing process, copies of everything that my ex filed. Supporting paperwork and everything.

I don't intend on becoming a citizen at this time and will keep renewing cards unless something changes. I have a new partner, whom has two children from a previous marriage. We have been in a relationship for 3 years.

Do I 'need' to keep all of the old paperwork? Original applications, lifting of conditions, etc. Is there anything related to the Green card that I need to do? I have gainful employment, pay my taxes. I'm just not married any more.

Do I have to worry that I'm not married any more? I was married for 10 years and have been here in the states for 13 total.

Hi all,

Currently awaiting a visa interview for London embassy but it is taking longer than expected (almost on week 4 of waiting).

I'm worried I've missed a letter but my CEAC account still says 'at NVC'.

I am expecting an email but should I be expecting a physical letter?

Hi all, I saw there was a thread on this but it was from 2017 so I thought I would do a new one as the link from the government in there was bad.

My husband (British) and I (American) are traveling to Asia with my family for the first time since we got the extension letter end of Dec. Right now his letter is for 48 months (from March 2023).

We havent done this before, so a little nervous, so sorry if these questions have been answered or seem easy.

When we leave for Tokyo, my husband can use his normal British passport to exit the US, right, then upon returning, he will need to show his expired GC and the actual letter, correct? Does he need to show the Delta airline person coming back or only at Ohare when we return?

Any other docs we can print (as the airline people in Asia may now know), or even the people at Ohare upon our return? I have heard horror stories of immigration people leaving other countries or even ours, not knowing what the letter is

Does anyone have knowledge of how long document retention should be? We, like all of you, have a giant box of immigration paperwork and am just wondering what everyone is doing with it and when. Thanks :)

Me and my spouse have recently received our I130 approval and have started on getting NVC stage started.

I want to visit the states in a few months before my interview so I can pick up some documents and see my wife and in-laws before what might be the Big Move not long after.

However, my ESTA is about to expire right before those dates. Can I apply for a new ESTA while at this late stage? Thanks!
