Hello, Our Adjustment of Status (AOS) interview was yesterday. The officer was friendly and professional. He even corrected a minor mistake in the application regarding a date. During the interview, they asked many detailed questions about our previous marriages, including specific dates and details not just whether they were terminated. Throughout the interview, the officer repeatedly said, I am making my decision, but they did not provide a final answer at the end. Instead, they told us we would receive the decision in a few weeks, or sometimes it may take months. We offered to provide additional evidence, but the officer said it was not necessary and that they had everything they needed. We have a few questions to better understand the process: - Is it normal for the officer not to provide an immediate answer?
- Are the interviewing officers also the ones who make the final decision?
- When should we expect to hear back regarding the outcome?
- We noticed a pink-colored carton paper in the officer s files does that indicate anything about our case?
- Should we take any action now, or simply wait for USCIS to notify us?
- What is the typical timeline for receiving the green card after the interview?
We received a white paper, which is the Notice of interview results, first option ( your case being held for review at this time... We want to make sure we understand the process and next steps correctly.

If a petitioner from the affected countries has already received the I551 immigrant visa stamp in their passport, can they still enter the US for the first time in February or are they affected by this pause? It sounds like the pause is only on issuing new visas, but I'm wondering if anyone has read anything about how it affects travel after consular approval?

Hi Everyone! My husband and I are expecting our baby in January. I m a U.S. citizen and my husband is a permanent resident who is expected to receive his citizenship next year. I would really love for my mother-in-law to visit after the baby s birth, both to meet her grandchild and to help out, as I don t have any family nearby. My question is, how likely is she to be approved for a visitor visa? She s a stay-at-home mom and has never traveled outside of Egypt except to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah. She s married, and her husband owns a business. She also has land in her name, and their home is jointly owned by both of them. My father-in-law wouldn t be traveling, as he needs to stay and manage his business. I know the U.S. Embassy in Cairo can be quite strict with visitor visa approvals, so I m curious if anyone has gone through a similar experience or has any insight. Thank you!
