Presented because it's interesting and potentially helpful. :)

Once you hit this credit score, experts say you're 'good' here's how to get there

These days, it's common for lenders, cell phone companies, landlords and even utility providers to check your credit before deciding if they want to do business with you.

The big question, though, is what exactly you must do to impress those companies and make them comfortable taking you on as a customer. Most credit scoring systems run on a scale of 300 to 850, but do you really need a perfect score to get the best rates? [...]

Looking to bring mom to the USA.
a few questions:

1.- When they ask for birth certificate, do they ask for mine and my mom, or just mine?

and does this document needs to be translated\notarized or original from my country is fine?

2.- question 61, and 62 indicate whether the beneficiary will seek adjustment of status inside the United States or consular processing abroad.

Mom is in Ecuador, so consular processing abroad correct?

3.- are there any sample forms of the I-130 here?

4.- my dad just passed away, will the document ask about my dad, do I need to provide anything about him like death certificate? Or should I just concentrate on my mom s documents?

5.- should I do this through a lawyer or is this a simple process?

thank you!

Hey everyone!

I am putting together my paper work for the Adjustment of status (K1 visa holder) and I haven't seen any specific form used for the BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT or something similar. I am not sure if I need to complete a new form besides (I-485, I-864, I-765, I-131, I-693). I already read your post about forms needed.

Is there any other form specific for Biometrics? or they are just gonna let me know when I should go to my appointment?

K1 Approved! AOS filing timeline and what happens next (SSN, DL, etc)...?

My fiance had his consular interview today and his K1 visa was approved! We're really excited, but I'm having a hard time finding clear information about the timeline of events between now and the end of the 90 days.

For context, he plans to come to the US in about 4-5 months (within the 6-month window), and we will have our ceremonial wedding approximately 2 months after that (within the 90-day window) This will allow ample time for him to tie up loose ends in his home country and for us to be able to fully plan our wedding.

TIMELINE QUESTIONS:

  • Once he gets to the US, when would it be best for him to get his SSN and Driver's License/REAL ID (he already has a foreign DL)?
  • When should we obtain our marriage certificate/get legally married? I'm assuming that this (and the SSN and DL) should happen early on in the 90 days, but is there a specific cut-off, and does one need to happen before the other?
  • Should we wait to submit the I-485 AOS and I-765 employment authorization forms until after our ceremonial wedding so we can include photos as evidence, or should we apply ASAP using the marriage certificate?
  • And finally, I know that his medical exam from the k1 visa process is valid for 6 months, at least in the sense that he needs to enter the US within 6 months of his exam date. Given the timeline I described above, we would potentially be submitting the I-485 about 7 months after his initial exam. Does that mean he'll need a new medical exam?

Thank you so much in advance!
