This USCIS page (https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/historic-pt) shows historical processing times for different kinds of immigration applications, among them I-131s. However, it splits the I-131s into 3 categories: "Advance parole document," "Parole in place," and "Travel document." The first two categories have much shorter current timelines (5-6 months each) than the third, which sits at 14.5 months. Which of these categories is relevant for a K1 visa holder who has arrived in the US, married, and filed for a I-485 adjustment of status? Or perhaps are they all relevant, meaning that the whole process may take the sum of all of those timelines?

My best friend's husband became ineligible for spousal immigrant-visa for a term of one year. That time is set to expire in three weeks to eligibility again pending new medical exam. If all goes well for the applicant in Colombia do the Embassy schedule new interview or bypass it upon good medical review and approve visa shortly thereafter?

Hello, When I submitted my I-129F, I attached 23 pages of WhatsApp chat logs spread out over the timeline of the relationship. I didn't think much of it and didn't read through every single line until reading another forum post. My fiance is Colombian and she uses the term "husband(esposo)" as a term of endearment and her way she feels of being sweet in our texts. I went back and reviewed the copy I made of what I submitted in my K-1 Packet, and of the 23 pages of texts, she used "husband" 3 times and I called her "wife" once. We also have plenty of uses of boyfriend/girlfriend in the earlier messages as well as fiance. Also are conversations where she says "marry meee" in a playful manner which in text may not come off that way. All our social medias show engaged/fiance. Bad mistake on my end, I know, that just didn't cross my mind when I was submitting the packet. From what I've read, this will be an issue during the interview for my fiance and this looks like i'll be denied? My question is if the interviewer will read through each line of the 23 pages of text messages and what our chances of approval are at now? I only submitted the K-1 packet 2 months ago. Trying to decide if it's a high chance of denial because of those text messages, would it be better to pivot to CR-1 now instead of waiting 1.5 years for a rejection and then starting the CR-1 process? Thanks for any advice!

Hello all, I was recently laid off. My W2 will show plenty of income but I dont have a current job with paystubs. I am self employed in the same line of work. Is this an easy fix with a co-sponsor? Since my income from being self employed will only be 2 months by the time of interview is it acceptable to use this income as a replacement for the income on the W2 from my previous job? My uncle can co-sponsor. He has assets and/or income to show. From my self employed income I can document: - Partnership agreement - Bank deposits for Dec/Jan (personal & business) - EIN business filing Thank you!

I'm planning to propose to my long-time girlfriend soon, and we might go the K1 route, or just do a courthouse marriage (bigger ceremony/party later) and go the CR1 route. She's Colombian, has a tourist visa, and will soon be graduating from her university there with a bachelor's degree. The thing is, we would really prefer to close the distance (to the extent possible) in a timeframe shorter than the 1.5-2 years I understand it takes for those visas to be granted, and if we can do so while she's working/studying here in the US in a way that advances her career goals, all the better. It seems that her doing a relevant Master's (or other graduate certificate) program in the US on an F1 visa or a long-term internship/traineeship for a company here on a J1 visa would both be options that would fit the bill, in terms of advancing her career goals, and allowing her to stay in the US for a longer period of time than her tourist visa would (12-18 months for the J1/F1, as far as I can tell, vs. 6 months for the B2). My question is whether she will run into any issues filing for a J1 or F1 visa for the purposes I described above, if she has a K1 or CR1 visa petition already pending/being processed? Also, I'm assuming here that it would make sense for her to file for the CR1/K1 before the J1/F1, given the longer lead time, but if the reverse would make more sense for some reason, I'd love to hear differently. Thank you!
