Good day everyone,

I could've sworn when I was doing the k1 process, I saw pinned threads with detailed information on the process for all forms/applications, or maybe being married is making me go nuts.. lol

All went perfect on the k1 and AOS -- her 2yr GC expires on 06/23/2024 so uscis calculator states earliest date to apply is 03/25/2024

I was reading about timeframes and they vary like crazy, we were planning to go to her home 03/2025 but if she doesnt have the GC then dealing with extension letter, another hassle

Where can i find a guide package/completed form?

thanks and good luck

Advice to help my sister with her process I-130 & I-485

Hi VJ's

My sister came here on work visa +10 years ago. She got married to an US Citizen around 4 or 5 years ago. She filed I130 & I485 on Nov. 17/2021. Her interview was in Tampa FL. on July/2022. Since that date her case has not any progress. Last year we checked USCIS status it says she can contact them after August 7th, 2023. We did on August 30th. Their response on Sept. 8th,2023 was: "Her application has been placed in the queue for interview scheduling. You will receive an interview Notice within 90 days of this notice. Currently no further action is required from you." We were waiting the 90 days but any interview notice was sent from them. I am asking you again for your advice. What does she need to do to try to get an answer from USCIS ASAP? because obviously her case is beyond of the processing times. Does she need to contact her Representative Legislator? or call them. Please help me with this matter.

Thank you in advance,

Hello, Me and my wife were 150% sure and confident that this morning she would walk out of the USCIS office as a "Gringa". But instead, she walked out upset, with the notice that she failed.

Of course, USCIS is very hard to get hold of anybody and when I finally did (by saying "infopass" as I read on here as a way to get a person), they were absolutely no help in stating what she needed to do.

Here is the breakdown.

The first box is marked X ; "You passed the English test and the U.S. History and government test.

Sounds good as she passed the civics as well as the reading and writing.

The next box marked X is the one stating: "You will have another opportunity to be tested on your ability to" ..........."Understand English". The understand English box was marked X.

Boxes for Speak, Read, Write were left blank as she passed those.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Then the last box marked with an X is the one stating: "A decision cannot be made yet about your application."

OK! So, any idea what she would be retested on? Afterall, the box is marked X that she had passed the English and the civics test.

It seems, on here repeating questions from the I-400 she stumbled on her phone number. She, like many of us in the modern world, couldn't remember it and she left her phone in the truck with me so a ringing would not distract. But she did state the area code which I would think should show the agent that she understood the question, just couldn't remember the actual number.

Another fumble, I think, was that she understood the agent asking, "where in 5 years" (I'm sure that's not how it was asked). And my wife replied "Colombia."

In reality, she had been out 9 times (on application), plus a 10th time in which she just got back. 6 times to Colombia and 3 to Mexico.

Other questions she repeated to me she answered correctly. Date of birth? Where born? Payed taxes? Address?

Do you think I'm right in that she should spend the next month or two studying the I-400? Or do they do the whole test over?

A bit upset as I don't see how she could have failed when it is marked that she passed. If she couldn't understand English, how did she answer correctly questions 1,2,3,4,5,6 and write a sentence correctly and read one correctly?

Just a bit frazzled right now. Any advice would be appreciated as those at USCIS aren't much help! That computer doesn't know squat!

Hello all hope all is doing well i was wondering if i can get some advice regarding my situation. My fiancee arrived last month on k1 visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what i have been looking online i made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on monday to gather more information but since she will be taking my last name what are the next steps then? Would it be easier if she just keeps her last name?

Should i apply for her social now? Or do i check the box for applying for a SSN when i fill out the I-485? Keep in mind i am trying to do the fastest way possible in order for her to get her drivers license open a bank account and work as fast as possible.

also does employment authorization and travel authorization all go together with i485 or are the sent or filed separately?

We just got the email from NVC that our case is on the way to the embassy in Bogot . Can my fianc e go ahead and complete DS-160 now? The link on the letter provided by NVC says to complete DS-160, but the supplementary information for Bogot on the same website states to not attempt to schedule the interview until the beneficiary has received instructions from the embassy. Can you fill out DS-160 then schedule the interview at a later date, or is it best to wait until getting contact from the embassy before proceeding with anything?
