Likelihood of mother-in-law getting a B-1 tourist visa to visit me and wife

Hey everyone -

My wife and I have been waiting for several months for her EAD and green card, however neither of these seem to be anywhere near completion. We haven't seen any change in her application status since April. My wife really just wants to see her mother and vice versa, even more so now because she's pregnant with our son. Wife also can't leave the US as doing so would be abandoning her AOS petition.

Wife and her family are from Brazil. Mother-in-law has a house in her name as well as multiple house pets, a garden, and 2 other kids, one of which has 2 kids of his own.

Is this enough to show "strong ties" to her homeland of Brazil? Enough for the US to trust granting a 6 month tourist visa to visit us?

Thanks!

Please let me know if this is not the correct forum. Looking for advice. My wife travelled to the United States from Brazil in January of this year on a K1 visa. Her 2 children had received their visas as well with An expiration to travel within 6 months. Obviously because of the coronavirus they did not travel. They had not travelled with my wife initially because of a dispute with their father. So the plan was to have my fiance at the time come here, get married and she would Then go back and bring the children. Since everything was backed up, she received the Authorization to travel in October, so she then travelled back to Brazil with a court case scheduled. Obviously we are past the 6 months that the children needed to travel on their Visa. The consulate in Brazil is only taking emergency cases. She emailed them with a request for an extension of their current Visa which has expired. She was emailed this morning stating that they are not yet open even though a week ago they requested all of her documents including a copy of the kids visas. Does anyone know of any other Avenue We can take to get this extension on their current Visa because of coronavirus? Does it need to be someone we contact in Brazil? Is there somewhere we can call in the United States? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I wasn t too sure where to post this so I did it in the general K1 visa forum for now until it s moved to a more appropriate location. This question is regarding the K1 visa process at the Brazilian embassy.

That aside, I was wondering if it would be cheaper to have my fianc get her vaccinations here in Brazil or wait until we return to the US to get her vaccinations when we apply for the adjustment of status?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

My husband is a citizen of Brazil but a US Permanent Resident. After he came here in 2014 but before he had his green card his mother passed away. His father is alone in Rio and having health and depression issues. We have been trying to renew his passport which expired. We had to send original documents, his old passport and a money order to the consulate in Chicago.USPS has lost the documents and were kinda in a panic. We have no way of getting another copy of his birth certificate or the old passport. They haven t got the documents in Chicago. The money order was never cashed. We are trying to have USPS search which involved filling out forms with them but so far nothing. He needs to just get there. He can get documents there if he can just get there and renew it before flying back since he plans to stay several months but we need to know if Brazil will even allow him entry. I contacted the airlines and they sent told me to contact TSA. TSA told me to contact US Department of State. They told me that they only deal with US Citizens abroad. Has anyone had to travel home? Can he enter his own country with any other form of ID or his green card and will he even be allowed to fly. Amazed that even the airline could nit answer this. It has to happen to other green card holders. Can anyone give me any leads. He needs to get back to his dad as soon as possible but we can t just spend thousands on airfare if we aren t sure he will be allowed entry into his home country.

I-751 Evidence Shortage

I'm looking for other examples of filers who perhaps didn't have a lot of copies of insurance or utility bill statements over the course of the 2 years from the time of marriage through filing the I-751. I don't have a good excuse, I guess naiveness and arrogance caused me to not focus on adding my wife to anything other than our bank account because I handle all of the bills and there is really no need to. I'm now looking through the required evidences to send with our I-751 filing and am in full panic mode. We won't have copies of utility bills and other statements other than our bank account and tax returns for each quarter for the last 2 years. She had an issue with a insurance bill not getting paid (she forgot to tell me) which killed her credit and I had to leave her off my mortgage when I refinanced as it would have cost us 1/4 point on the rate. This is insane, we are married. We have tons of pictures, could have 20 family members write affidavits attesting to our marriage. I'm concerned my procrastination has cost us the ability to live in the states and that I will have to uproot myself, my wife and daughter because of my mistake. Does anyone have any suggestions for me here to try and fill this gap? Obviously she is my beneficiary on everything. Has anyone else gotten by without such evidences - is there any hope here for me/us?
