Greetings from the USA!!

I arrived for my 12:15pm flight at 9:30am - leaving LOTS of time to go through customs and immigration. I waited in line for the first available customs agent for about 5 minutes. When I got to him he asked me for my boarding pass, passport and declaration. I gave him all of that plus the brown envelope. He looked at the first page, scanned my passport, looked at me, typed some things into the computer, put my documents into a yellow folder and directed me to secondary inspecting.

I went through the double doors into secondary screening where there were about 6 agents. I handed my yellow folder to the first agent who told me to have a seat. I sat and watched my envelope remain untouched for about 30 minutes before an agent picked it up. I could see him going through the documents and typing into the computer.

About 45 minutes after I entered secondary inspection, the agent called me up. He told me that he needed to fingerprint, old school - with ink, my right index finger for the green card. Then he asked me to sign under the print. He told me that I was being issued a conditional green card and 1 year and 9 months from now to apply for the removal of conditions. He handed my passport back, told me the stamp in the passport was good for 1 year and acceptable for school, work, SSN, and drivers license, but once I got the actual green card to use that and not worry about the stamp. He then smiled at me and I asked him if there was anything else he needed from me. He said no and welcomed me to America.

The experience was absolutely painless. They were kind, professional and expedient. I HIGHLY recommend Pearson as a POE.

My husband and I are preparing to leave for our honeymoon – 4 days in Puerto Rico. After that we’ll be taking a scenic trip from Georgia to Maine in an open-cockpit biplane. We’re making up for 10 long months of separation!
