I asked about the transcripts last week:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112282

I called on Monday and hopefully will get them soon.

Good luck to you!

We are including: the check, copy of the I-751 we sent (hasn't been approved yet), copy of his extension letter for the PR card, copy of his expired PR Card (front and back), copy of marriage license, My (the US Citizen) birth certificate copy, copy of a car loan and title, copy of car insurance, copy of renters insurance, two bank statements (savings and checking), IRS transcripts for the past three years, and two passport photos. The last few items are to show joint names.

We will send the packet off once we get the tax return transcripts. One thing I was confused on, I noticed some people sent there's Fed Ex, with a signature requirement? Nebraska has a box office number, so I thought you couldn't do that. We plan on just sending it USPS Priority Mail probably with the delivery confirmation. Should be good enough right? That's how we sent the I-751.

Marriage and Divorce certificates yes, but not a birth one for you. Check out the sticky post on here and the Guide to Naturalization, it tells you everything you need.

We have always just sent copies of our tax returns. Why would we have to send transcripts?

This is in the instructions:

"4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:

•Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or

•Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

•An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years. "

This is the first time we got the IRS tax return transcripts. We did it because it seems like the most popular way to go on these boards, and it was 1. free, 2. easy, 3. less pages to copy and submit than copies of tax returns.

:)

I also submitted the transcripts (which I panic ordered 1 week before I filed, once I realized I needed them! - they arrived in a matter of days though, which was a relief) for basically the same reason as Tammi -- less photocopying needed and a smaller (and cheaper) envelope to Fed-ex to the VSC.

Good luck! :)

I do check my case status online but it has not been updated since March 31 when they sent out my FP appointment.
