Hello everyone,

Does anyone know what is the best way to find out if our petition has been forwarded and/or received at the Embassy in Ghana? I received a letter from NVC stating that "within a week, the petition will be forwarded". Since correspondence is going over seas, I am sure NVC must have a way of tracking what it sent? It is already expensive $$$$$$$ to call my fiance', so I really do not want to spend money calling the Embassy, only to be put on hold.

Any ideas or direction is welcomed.

Thanks

Hey Erika :)

You can try e-mailing them but it takes a couple of weeks to get back to you. Try consulateaccra@state.gov (for the consular section) and acsaccra@state.gov (for USC services). Make sure to include your case number and info about you and your fiance. I put something like "Approved K1 Petition" or something like that in the subject.

I would honestly try calling. It is expensive but worth it to find out if they have your petition. I think I said this before but they did not send the letter to my fiance until AFTER I called them (even though they told me it was sent 3 weeks earlier  ). You can only call them between 3pm and 4pm Ghana time.

FYI: I did a quick check on the DHL website and it looks like your petition left NVC on 11/20 and was signed for in Accra on 11/26.

I emailed them and sent acc number and they told me they had not received anything for my husband but a few days later he got the letter to pick up the packet. After that he seemed to be in their systerm because now when i email them they can give me specifics. I dont know if its lack of communication between offices or just that some are not as thorough as others. Maybe it was even sitting on someones desk and nothing got done till I called or email. :) I wish.
