Like Boone's Farm????????????

Just kidding.

Hmmmm...I don't know. I am guessing because we live not all that far from each other, I would see some of the same labels as you are looking at. I've never really noticed that issue. And, I always look cause I like a really dry white wine.

I buy at the Class Six on base (which probably means they don't have as much choice as a liquor store). I don't remember the name, I always go cheaper than $10

I'm asking because most of my recipes are in portuguese and in portuguese they'll ask for dry, semi-dry or smooth red or white wine and I wind up never making them cuz I never know which wine to buy.

I used to manage the liquor dept. of grocery store...

For cooking, I'd recommend using a cheaper bottle. Charles Shaw wines (2 Buck Chuck) are at Trader Joe's.

Cabernet Sauvignon is considered a 'dry' red wine

Sauvignon Blanc is a dry white wine.

Most of the workers who stock the wine are knowledgeable about their product and can recommend a wine for what ever the occasion is.

:) Sure. If you don't have a Trader Joe's nearby, E & J Gallo winery has some pretty cheap wines you can find in any store.

well my recipe asks for an entire bottle of wine, but I'm only making half the recipe, so I'll use only half the bottle and the other half has to be drinkable ;)

what is sommelier?

A sommelier, or wine steward, is a trained and knowledgeable wine professional. Many liquor stores employ one or more or at least have others trained to answer your questions....

YMMV

It's hard for me to mix food with alcohol.

I have been trying to make beercan chicken for a couple years now. But I seem to run out of beer before I desire to make any chicken.

 Beerbutt chicken!!

It's good!!
