In packet 3 that the embassy sent us it says that they need certified translations. Does this HAVE to be done by a professional translator? I read some other topics about this but i want a more specific answer. Can we translate it ourselves by a friend or relative who is proficient is both langauges?

Try giving the embassy a call because it doesn't make sense why they would request translations of documents in their own country. If they still say they need them translated (to English I'm assuming) then they can be translated and signed by anyone who is fluent in both languages.

You had better read the website for the Consulate of the country. I think they always accept documents in the native language of the country, or in English. ome other language, then, yes, they need to be translated. Anyone who is fluent, and certifies as being fluent can translate.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Why bother??? Im sure that the Consulate there accepts documents written in Danish. But check the website to be sure. I have never heard of a Consulate not accepting docs written in the native language of the country.

The Embassy in Indonesia only accepts documents in English. If they require documents in English, its usually indicated in Packet 3.

Here. I just looked it up for you.

From the web pages of the Embassy in Copenhagen

..............................................

All documents that are not in their original form written in either English or Danish must be accompanied by a certified translation into English (not into Danish). In other words, original Danish documents do not need to be translated. However, original German/Farsi/etc. documents must be translated into English. All translations must be done by a person who has been authorized (by authorities in the country in which he/she works) to act as a certified translator from one specific language to another.
