The next day pick up is 100% up to the CO you get on the day. Some offer, some don't - it sure can't hurt to ask!

I'll make an effort to try to get it the next day. From what you've heard, would I have to wait like before the interview, or would I just pop in and a guard gives it to me or something like that? I have about 45 minutes to an hour before I would need to get walking to the train station from when the consulate opens. Depending on how long it would take, I could make it the next day.

I haven't read any details on this here - if anyone posted them I missed it. There was a thread about when you can pick up your visa, but that only applied to Vancouver. This would be a good new thread I think!

Who actually schedules the interview at the consulate? Is it NVC or the consulate?

I mean when the case is completed at NVC do they send the documents to the consulate immediately and then the consulate gets back to them with a date or does NVC drive it?

My wife's case was completed on August 4th and no interview date yet. When I call NVC they give me the handbook reply about scheduling on the second week of each month for the following month.

I am pretty sure that for CR1/IR1s the consulate give NVC the number of available spaces they have for interviews and then NVC schedules them based on who's been waiting and how long, etc., etc...

NVC, in our case, does NOT send our case to the consulate until we've been scheduled an interview. It's a pain in the butt, justcheckin... a bunch of people who have been waiting since JUNE just got scheduled for November. There are still some July's left and our case was complete August 12th. I don't expect to interview until January or February now. Which sucks. Just a awhile ago, the waiting times for an interview were about 90s -- not SO bad, now they have jumped up to about 120-150 days.

So... that's what I got for you -- I wish it were prettier news...

Good luck... if you can, please keep us posted if you do happen to get an interview? It sort of helps us gauge as to what COULD be happening...

I also find that if you haven't been scheduled -- you get the operator at NVC reciting off a page or a screen or something which I find, only adds insult to injury...

Well, it looks as though the Montreal consulate is having problems:

The good news is that it seems like they are trying to come up with a solution.

We are still waiting for an interview date as well and we were completed June 26. I thinkI could work for the NVC since I have their script memorized at this point!

That's an interesting bit of information Peachy got. It would be great if the decided to maybe interview in another consulate as well !

That would be amazing if they did that.

The NVC does the consulate's scheduling if you're not directly filing through the consulate.

Unless you have a specific problem or have questions about any returned information from the NVC, the NVC call center is useless at giving you any sort of idea of when your interview will be. They must be trained to say call back on the second week of the month. This, as I'm sure everyone has found out by now, means absolutely nothing. I received notification of my interview right at the end of September.

Just give them your email address; they will email you your interview letter the day they schedule an interview for you.

I had to wait over three months to find out when my interview was, and my interview is almost exactly five months after my case was completed. It sucks because I haven't seen my wife in person since January, and I've never seen my little girl in person since she was born in May. Thank God for Skype.

That's too bad...you must have just missed the cutoff for the November interviews, but who really knows how they do things?

It does suck. It was a choice we both made because I wanted to save up as much money as I could for the move, and spending money on plane tickets every couple of months doesn't allow me to do that!

I'm just hoping that everything goes nice and smoothly. I hope to be there for Turkey Day.

Hi All! I just called the DOS this afternoon in hopes that they might have info about our interview date and we were told that our interview has been scheduled for November 12th!! I was slightly shocked when the operator informed me that we actually had a date. She said that Montreal had put it into the system on Oct. 1st.

The weird thing is that I am pretty sure the consulate decided to schedule our interview right after I emailed them last Thursday (Oct 1st) asking about our case status. I think that our case might have been pushed to the side and that emailing them brought it to their attention- we have been waiting for our interview since the end of June. Might be worth a shot to email the consulate for others as well...
