We did everything electronic and it when very well.. Now just need to wait for interview...so cool.

Anyhoo folks, i've been thinking that I have had enough of updating this timeline :)

I'm hoping someone (or everyone) will update it now. If you have any questions about updating it or need it straightened out, just send me a pm

I don't blame you for not wanting to keep doing the timeline, and I'm happy to update my own entry (when/ if I ever do get an interview).

I guess I have just one question. I'll ask it publicly, just because I bet other people need to know too. How do I turn my whole entry GREEN? I'm pretty sure you said previously that the entry is supposed to be green once there's an interview scheduled. Do we turn it back to black once the interview is over?

Thanks for all the work you've done to date. I think this timeline is the single most informative thing I've encountered on this site.

Hi Mtl,

Good to hear!

When someone gets an interview date I select that particular timeline, then just use the text colour button next to the 'sizes' drop down box at the top of the reply screen - I use the 3rd green one from the top , the colour is 2E8B57, then I bold it as well. Once the interview is done I just remove the html for both the colour and bold from that line

Ok: Now that you've explained it, I think I see exactly how to do it. I hope it's clear to everyone else too.

Let's just hope I have *reason* to update my entry sometime before 2012...

Just wanted to add my thanks also. The timeline was my lifeline when I was waiting for my interview to be booked. Being able to see others move through the process gave me hope that I would one day get to the finish line as well.

trailmix all of your hard work and support is much appreciated. (F)

Getting frustrated, I decided to write the NVC and the Consulate to ask about the delay in assigning interview dates.

I wrote:

Hello- I was wondering if you could give us any hint as to when we might be assigned an interview date at the Montreal Consulate. Our CR-1 Visa case, number MTL********, received its Case Complete on June 4, 2010, and we are yet to hear about an interview date. Is there any way to check on the progress of assigning dates? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Their response:

Dear Sir/Madam: Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the designated representative of this case (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will be notified. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview.

UGH!!! Thanks for nothing!!

Yes, NVC does indeed suck when it comes to giving info. You can try to get them on the phone and ask them WHY it's taking so long, but they'll just say that the reason is "limited capacity at the consulate." Oh, gee...thanks: it's not like anyone would expect the consulate to have UNlimited/ infinite capacity...but the VALID question we all have is WHY is their capacity at Montreal so SEVERELY limited, so much more limited (it would seem) than other consulates' capacities...and, importantly, WHY don't they do anything about the problem, when it's been a known problem for such a long time. Do not expect any relevant response to these valid questions from NVC. They're just in the business of playing dumb and plodding along.

I share your frustration, obviously.

You will get ZERO useful assistance from NVC at this stage of the game. And it's been a bit of hit and miss throughout the process as well. But since you have case completion and are waiting on an interview date, calling or emailing NVC or Montreal starts with a good intent but inevitably leads to the same outcome: frustration and no further ahead than when you started. Remember that NVC has contracted people that work on phones and answering questions. They are NOT direct employees of the Dept of State. They are instructed to read scripts and answer in general terms. they have no real control over this thing so when you are emailing or calling you get very little. I remember being told that NVC couldn't do anything until they heard from MTL and the embassy's availability for interviews, and then MTL telling me that they first need to hear from NVC before they can schedule interviews....round and round.

Best advise (and I give discount rates for my pop psychology lol), have patience and join the ####### is going on ??? club - we were there , along with many with us and countless before us.

Your case complete wasn't too long ago - you'll likely hear at the end of this month or possibly early next month and your interview will likely be Sept. That's my edumacated guess on it :bonk:
