Out of interest, where do you think our AOS stuff will happen?

I've been thinking about this for a few days now and I can't find the answer to my question....

When it comes to doing the biometrics and the AOS interview which office do you think we would need to go to? I'm concerned because I think it may be Milwaukee as we live in WI but location wise it would be easier to get to the branch in Minneapolis as we live on the boarders.

Is there any way of specifying that going to MN would be easier for us when we send the package off for processing? or do we just grit our teeth and stick with Milwaukee? or would they automatically assign us to Minnesota because geographically we are closer?

Thanks a lot

Nicola

I believe a board member who lives in Eau Claire has Milwaukee listed as their service center. I'm pretty sure it goes by state, unfortunately.

Looking at the USCIS website, if you live in Wisconsin, your suboffice is Milwaukee.

Strange because Eau Claire is listed under Minnesota and our county is listed there too!

The St. Paul District serves Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The following Wisconsin counties are serviced by the St. Paul USCIS office. (See the Milwaukee USCIS Who Are We for the Wisconsin counties serviced by that USCIS office.) Adams, Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Iron, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lincoln, Marathon, Monroe, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Portage, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, Vilas, Washburn, and Wood.

I guess i'll keep our fingers crossed and hope that we end up with MN as our district!

Thanks

There's no "hoping" you get assigned somewhere. It goes by the county in which you live, period. If your county is on the Milwaukee list, you go to Milwaukee. If it's on the St. Paul list, you go to St. Paul.

Quite a lot with immigration isn't cut-and-dried, but this certainly is.

Isn't the issue that her county is listed under both the Milwaukee & St. Paul lists???

I just looked at the Milwaukee list and I don't see it there, assuming we're talking about Eau Claire. It looks to me like it's on the St. Paul list. So her office is St. Paul.

Nope its under the Minnesota list according to the posted web link! Which is alll good!!!

Hey, I learn something new every day I don't know if you want the St. Paul office though. They're slooooooooooooooooooooow.

I'd sooner drive 40 minutes to St. Paul rather than the several hours to Milwaukee!!! Hell we went through Nebraska (when it was slooow!) and survived, things can't possibly get slower than that!!!

Thanks for your help!

You'll go through St Paul, it doesn't necessarily depend on the state that you live in. We live in Iowa, but our local office (10 minute drive) is Omaha, Nebraska. We're thankful for this as the Des Moines Iowa office would be around a 2 hour drive if not more!! We've used the Omaha office for everything and were sent there for the biometrics, so assume we'll be called there for the Interview too.

Good Luck

Kate

Although one might not always believe it, the folks @ USCIS are pretty smart. You won't have a say as to what service center you'll be dealing with, but you can rest assured that they'll take care of all of that for you - and send you to the nearest one.

Some have already given examples of this... I'll give mine now.

I live in central Illinois - about 3-1/2 hours south of Chicago. And about 1-1/2 hours north of St. Louis/Missouri state line. Last Friday, I had my biometrics taken in St. Louis and will probably be going back there for my AOS interview.

St. Louis was my preference all along because it was much closer. I obviously wasn't the only one who made that observation. :D
