...and all went really well! We (me and three year old daughter) arrived half an hour early so filled out our paperwork while we waited. We were called in by a female doctor (can't remember her name  ) and she went through the paperwork with me, did my height and weight, checked my eyes, ears and throat, checked my abdomen and my breasts, made sure I was a girl (!), took my bloods and asked me to keep my gown on for the x-ray. She then did my daughters height, weight and eyes, ears and throat, checked out her girl status and that was her done! The doc was polite but unfriendly towards me but was fabulous with my daughter, which I was pleased about.

I then had my x-ray done and waited for it to be developed in case they had to take another one (which they didn't). After I paid the £300 we were free to go!

Our appointment was at 3.15pm and I was told to allow 2 hours as we were both being seen, but we were out of there at 3.45! The staff were fantastic, and apart from the doc were all very sweet and chatty (especially the radiographer who was telling me all about his holidays!!!)

I was told we had passed pending my blood test results, but if I hadn't heard anything from them in the next 3-4 days then to expect it to be good news... hurrah!!!

All in all a good day, and I don't know why I was so nervous lol!

I had mine there today as well at 10am. I was behind a family so I didn't get out until about 11:30. The staff were friendly and everything seemed ok but they had to take 2 x-rays as the first plate they used wasn't long enough.

Yes you do have to go to London now. The Overnight Bus will get you there pretty cheap.

It's a shame our times weren't closer together or we could've met up for a coffee! Glad it all went well for you, did they charge you more for the extra x-ray? A woman going in before me was charged for two and she was not best pleased lol I didn't hear how much more she was charged but even so she was not ahappy bunny

Yep, it's only the one place in London for the whole of the UK. Crazy, huh?! It would be much better if there was one each in England, Wales, Scotland, and N. Ireland, or at least England, Scotland, and N. Ireland.

It is a shame. It would have been good to meet up with someone going through the same process :). I didn't get charged any extra. Perhaps it depends on whether they perceive it as your fault (eg you moved) or their fault (they used a plate which was too small). Generally everyone was pretty friendly which was nice.

Yes, it's completely insane and unfair.

However, I will quite happily fly to the other side of the world if it means I can get a visa
