I have read everything I can find here. This is what I think Im doing????

File I-751 to stop/lift conditional status? (it takes 6-8 weeks to get certified marriage certificate what do I do?)

Then file AOS paperwork after i file I-751?

I read somewhere people file for social security number but cant find that now?

My God the fees are 1500 dollars for both filings. Crazy!

So can someone here help me a bit with what exactly to do?

I suggest you read the guides here on VJ. Once the beneficiary arrives in the U.S. you 90 days to marry. Once married you can file AOS. Once the green card is issued you will need to file to lift conditions approximately 90 days before it expires.

You only have to file for AOS (I-485) after getting married, which you have to do within 90 days of entering the US on a K-1 visa.

You file for Removal of Conditions 2 years after AOS. Like the other poster said, you really should read the guides here!

I read the guides I guess I mis-understood them. Thats why Im asking instead of making a mistake.

So I will file the AOS 485 certified and wait? That keeps her in the country? I can also apply for social security now?

Question....

How do I put her on all my stuff as my wife when she has no DL or SS card to prove who she is?

Will all my debtors accept her manila passport as ID?

The Guides are a great help but I certainly understand how confusing it can get, reading all those many pages of instructions! All of us (at one time or the other) have been filled with doubts and questions too!

Yes, first follow the instructions in the Adjustment of Status Guide. File the I-485, I-765 (for work authorization) and I-131 (Advanced Parole, to travel outside the country while waiting for the I-485 approval, the green card). There is just one fee and you don't have to pay separate fees for the work authorization (EAD) and Advanced Parole.

You can go to a local SSN office now and ask for a Social Security card immediately, usually it comes within two weeks.

Send in the AOS application and wait for the SSN. After it comes, you can then add her name to whatever you can - your apartment lease or house, credit cards, bank accounts, insurance, utilities, phone bills, etc. If you get an AOS interview (which may be only after 3-5 months), you can show such relationship proof then.

It would be great if you can update your Timeline! :time:

Im not sure how long you have been in the US but for a K1 SSN, you need to make sure you apply before day 76 (of the 90 day visa period). After this time they might not give you one until you have the EAD.

Make sure that if the wife is taking the husbands name that all of the AOS forms are filled out using that name. Changing this later is going to be a nightmare and costs more money.

As the others have said, follow the guides. File I-485, EAD and AP. 2 years after the approval of your AOS is when you will file to remove conditions.

Answers in CAPS...

So I will file the AOS 485 certified and wait? That keeps her in the country? I can also apply for social security now? YES, FILE THE I-485... YES, SHE CAN STAY HERE IN US EVEN AFTER HER I-94 EXPIRES AS LONG AS YOU GOT THE 485 SITTING AT USCIS' OFFICE... BETTER CHECK YOUR SSA AND INQUIRE ABOUT IT.

Question....

How do I put her on all my stuff as my wife when she has no DL or SS card to prove who she is?

Will all my debtors accept her manila passport as ID? APPLY FOR A STATE ID AND LIKE I SAID ABOVE, CHECK WITH YOUR SSA FOR HER SSN... HER PASSPORT WITH THE VISA AND I-94 WILL ONLY BE USED TO SHOW HER CURRENT STATUS HERE IN US, BUT NOT AS HER VALID ID TO BE PUT UNDER ALL YOUR STUFF.

don't forget to have the vaccinations transcribed from the DS-3025 to an I-693 vaccination supplement by a Civil Surgeon. your wife may need a TD shot since it usually it not available at medical at St. Lukes.

best of luck with AOS

ok, lets take it easy on the guy.

I know nothing about you so I am going to assume a couple things.

Assuming your now wife came in on a K1 visa, you need to file the I-485. If she was in the country legally and you just decided to get married, you need ot file the I-130 and the I-485.

There are a lot of assumptions we can all make but the OP need to give us the correct set of circumstances to advise correctly.

This process can be very confusing and frustrating. The important thing is that you wife is with you and is staying with you.
