11/13/07 Visa Received ~*happy dance*~

12/28/2007 Trev's moving HOME !!!!!!!

Mary loses her job and doesn't want to lie to her gov't so we wait as long as we can and then..................

4/6/2008 Trev returns to Canada

8/30/2008 Trev is denied entry at the border

............to be continued once we file again.

One should take some proof such as pics, letters, travel tickets. Majority of the time in Canada they won't ask for it, but sometimes they do. One doesn't have to get carried away. I bought one of those plastic accordion binders, that had like 13 pockets! Could separate all my paperwork that way, and it was small enough that you could bring it into the consulate! As you know they wont allow big bags, backpacks, big purses!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'm bringing as much as I can fit into my plastic accordian file. I got about 8 pictures and all my plane tickets. I couldn't find any phone bills from a few years ago. I must have thrown them away. I talk to my fiancee every night on Skype, so theres no phone bill. Just bring as much as you can. Better to have too much, than not enough.

Here's my K-1 Timeline:

October 2006 - I-129F sent

10/24/2007 - INTERVIEW DATE!!!!!....APPROVED!!

10/30/2007 - Visa in hand!

AOS Timeline:

1/30/08 - Sent AOS pkg Priority Mail with USPS

3/12/08 - Biometrics taken

3/29/08 - EAD and AP in hand for me and my son

5/21/08 - Email-GC on its way!...RFE for my son's application

5/27/08 - GC arrives!!!

7/02/08 - Sons GC arrives!!!

ROC TIMELINE

3/23/10 - ROC sent!

3/29/10 - NOA1

4/22/10 - Biometrics Appt for me and my son

6/30/10 - Email saying card production ordered for me and my son

7/6/10 - Letter in the mail saying cards will arrive within 60 days

7/10/10 - Both cards received!

I have TONS of "proof", I love memories :P .

Does anyone think they will have ANY aversion to the scrapbooks? I'd hate for them to take them and then be asked for proof. Just hit me today that I am becoming a nervous wreck!

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having to hand over their pictures at the interview. Only thing I've heard is that they've asked to see them. If you have any pictures lying around and not in the scrapbook, I think it would be easier and less bulky to take them instead.

Mary, I'm a scrapbooker too (and will deny it if asked in public or in front of nerd colleagues, but that's another story); yet MTL is b!tchy about bulky items.... so think twice if your scrapbook is a 12x12 type. Maybe grab some pics or bring in one of the 10x10 ones... or put everything in the accordeon folder! Rarely will they ask for pictures... they didn't in our case.

Proof? Wh Does this apply to IR's? Just checking.... we've been married 6 years and together about 8 .... they've got the marriage certificate.... we sent them a "story" of how we met I think last year with the original documents.

Do you think we need to bring other "proof"? If so what kind?

You could always color copy the pages in the scrap book if you really were concerned they might want to keep some of them. That way you would have a copy to give if they asked.

They didn't ask to see additional supporting documentation for us. We always carried it (MSN chats, e-mails, photos, letters from each other and our parents (b'day cards etc.), but never had to show it.

AOS:

2007-02-22: Sent AOS /EAD

2007-03-06 : NOA1 AOS /EAD

2007-03-28: Transferred to CSC

2007-05-17: EAD Card Production Ordered

2007-05-21: I485 Approved

2007-05-24: EAD Card Received

2007-06-01: Green Card Received!!

Removal of Conditions:

2009-02-27: Sent I-751

2009-03-07: NOA I-751

2009-03-31: Biometrics Appt. Hartford

2009-07-21: Touched (first time since biometrics) Perhaps address change?

2009-07-28: Approved at VSC

2009-08-25: Received card in the mail

Naturalization

2012-08-20: Submitted N-400

2013-01-18: Became Citizen

I wasn't asked for proof, but other interviewees who were the same day I was were asked to provide proof to various questions. The consulate didn't keep the pictures though, they just asked to see them. Doesn't hurt to be prepared with a variety of things. :)

I printed off a bunch of "like" pictures to sheets of photo paper - I have 6 pages. All my tix, etc are tacked down to the scrapbook pages. I do have both our phone bills though.

Just dawned on me - is this proof suppsed to go back to when we met even though we sent that in w/ round 1?

Best to have more evidence than not enough (even though they probably won't even ask for it). I'd bring samples from when you first met to the present.

2007-08-23: AOS interview (Documents / Interview review)

2007-08-23: Green card production ordered!!!

2007-08-24: Welcome notice mailed!

2007-08-27: Green card production ordered again... ?

2007-08-28: Welcome notice received!

Done with USCIS until May 23, 2009!

Have the two of you been living together for most of that time? If you have, I wouldn't worry about it, if I were you. I never took any proof and we have been only married under 2 years. If you have had a legit marriage for 6 years they will be able to come to that conclusion through their questioning.
