hi guys!

i'm a skype user and i use it to call my fiance in the US. i want to print all the call logs in my skype account.

i found two ways: 1. exporting the file to excel file. 2. print screen every page of the call logs account.

in exporting the file to excel file, i'm not sure if this a good proof that we are talking to each other since this is just an excel file and can easily be done by anybody. i mean, the consuls might suspect this as a fake proof or material.

and using print screen method is really tiring.

any other suggestions?

thanks,

beng

You could try using SnagIt. It expands on the Print Screen method by instantly taking a shot of what you're looking at, and saving the file for you automatically, so you don't have to fumble around doing:

- Print Screen

- Open Paint or some other imaging program

- Paste

- Save

- Repeat

SnagIt will do all that with one press of a key after you set it up. Then all you have to do is scroll your Skype log down until it shows the next page, press the hotkey again, and repeat. That should save you a lot of time.

We used the Skype Exporter to export to an Excel file and ended up with a lot of pages in a very small font. The times and call lengths were very random, as were scattered missed calls. Yes, it could have been faked by someone with a lot of time on their hands, but so could a phone bill. Unfortunately, I can't say what the consulate thought of it because they didn't look at it. I don't know of a method other than the two you mentioned.

Good luck.

Great posting!

I actually e-mailed to Skype about doing this! the guy said just COPY/PAST it into NOTEPAD!!! but that doesn't work for the version of Skype I have!!! I was wanting to see if there was a real way for me to actually PRINT the entire log of it!!!

I think I have plenty of proof of convo's from my Raza.com calling records online and then from e-mails here and there then her home phone bill calling me.

How do you copy the history log into EXCEL??? I wasn't successful!! just wanted to try it out to see how it looks!

Thanks!

I just printed off my skype logs for the past 3 months the other day and I found he basic print screen to be pretty good. U just go into the "Calls and SMS" section. U go to the bottom of the month u want to print off and tell it to show all items instead of the default 20, that way it will print off the entire month. U can edit ur print settings to get more entries on a page...but don't go so small they can't read it of course. :) That way the most times u'd have to hit print screen would be 12 times for a year...not too hard IMO(in my opinion). Much easier than exporting files if u don't know what u are doing. :)

Do you pay for your skype service?

I believe the area you are talking about "calls and SMS" is not for the free account.

I have tried this, logged into "my account" and there are no calls there because I don't pay for skype, I'm on the free service.

If the OP is on that as well, it's difficult to print off the skype records other than print screening the entire screen. I've heard of exporting to excel but I haven't tried that as I don't have excel on my computer. I've heard of people trying it and the contents is all scrambled when it's opened in excel.

Sigh, I really wish Skype would allow the free users to print off their entire log simply by copy and paste.

Oh well.

yeah I dont know why the skype guy told me that, but like Laura and Nick said he might be on a version that you pay and you may have more capabilities for it! but this far in the game i'm sure not going to be paying to have this done, would rather just do a ton of Alt+PrintScreen, then Ctrl+V, some editing, then Ctrl+S....... its a pain as we have had tons of convo on Skype! kinda sh~tty on there part!!!

but I guess you gotta get an income flowing!!!!!!

Like I said in my post above, if exporting to Excel is not satisfactory, if simply copy-pasting doesn't work, and if print screen -> paste in Paint -> save -> repeat is too tedious... use SnagIt!

Thanks Shub.

I checked out their site. The program does cost money to use but they have a 30 day free trial so...I'll look in to that later on in the process when I need the phone logs.
