From what I have read here the whole process is usually taking 6 months or more. My Fiance said that she received a K-1 one year ago and the process only took 1 month. I guess things have changed a little. She did not feel comfortable with him and returned home after 45 days. When it was approved her petitioner sent all the papers to the Embassy in Bogota insted of her. Has anyone done this. Is this an option or no? Thanks for any info

No way has there ever been a K1 visa processed in one month since 9/11 or ever as far as that goes.

I think you should do a little checking on your fiance or perhaps there was a lack of communication.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Hello Rail,

I'd have to agree with "beckypua" about the the approval in one month!! Highly unlikely that this occurred. And, I see that you are a newbie...have you researched the rest of us in the process to see that the time frame is more like 6 months. Additionally, YOU are involved most in the early phases of the petitioning process...filing the I-129f and supporting documentation. After, your NOA-2 and your file si subsequently sent to NVC, your fiance becomes more involved when she receives "Packet 3" from the embassy with papers for HER to complete, sign and send back to the embassy, etc. Plus, she needs the doctor's appointment in Bogota and MORE!!

Her former fiance' could not have done all this from the USA in that time frame...impossible. It might be a good idea to discuss this with your fiance again. Something is not correct here. I wish you the best of luck on your Visa Journey.

Sincerely,

Craig

Hey I agree that seemed mighty fast 1 month but I wasnt sure. She does seem to not know much about the process. I dont think they communicated much about it. She was in shock when i told her 6 months. By him sending her stuff to the Embassy tells me he left her out of as much of the process as possible. She is very trustworthy so i am thinking she didnt know. Thanks for the replys

Yup, 6 months is the norm. Some take 9 months, but I think those are the ones with multiple RFE's. Since 9/11 it's much more difficult to bring a loved one here. But it's worth waiting if you really love them.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Maybe 6 months for some countries, but not for many. After the petition leaves the NVC for the Embassy/ consulate it becomes very country specific. For example with China "the norm" to get K-1 has always been around 7-9 months, now with the ISCIS delays 9- 12 months.

Or if you really want to cry look at the Dominican Republic timelines.
