My foreign passport expired and I applied for renewal

It usually takes 3 - 4 weeks to get the passport back.

How do I travel in the meantime within United States ?

Using my International licence here and was too lazy to apply for the state id......

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

i'm assuming this question is in line with the requirement to have one's passport and i-94 with them at all times until aos is completed.

Okay... I'm going to assume you're here legally? Well, I hope so. If you aren't, I wouldn't recommend posting on a public message board. Too many ways to trace you and nothing is really "private" on the Internet. There are always ways to find out information about something or someone. In addition, just because a website doesn't exist anymore, that doesn't mean the information can't be found. That's what the Wayback Machine is for today. ;)

Anyway... if your foreign passport has expired, then it's good you're getting it renewed as quickly as possible. You'll need that to travel outside of the United States. Traveling within the U.S., however, is much easier. All you should require is your state driver's license for identification purposes. You could also use your Permanent Resident Card (aka "green card") to identify yourself too. I don't think an International Driving Permit will work, but I may be wrong -- those carry a picture in it of you, just like a passport does, so it might be considered valid. Although the International Driving Permit itself can't be expired and I know in the U.S., if you get one, they usually expire one year after the date you've received it.

Technically speaking, you can travel on any airline without ID, but expect your boarding pass to get marked "SSSS" and go through a very thorough security screening. If the airline still doesn't allow you on or TSA won't allow you through security, then you're screwed as far as flying is concerned. You need some form of official government ID with a picture.

You can still drive across the U.S. without any ID (other than a driver's license, of course). I assume your significant other has one, so he or she could do the driving. Driving takes a lot longer and probably costs more (gas is expensive and you'll need to stop at hotels/motels to sleep, depending on how far your destination is), but if you can't fly, it's probably the only viable option open to you.
