Hello, we just received the NOA2 in the mail today.

The Notice says it is valid from 9/10/2007 to 1/09/2008?

Does anyone know why this form has an expiration? I understand we need to reply within a specified time limit when my fiance receives her packet from the Consulate. But, I do not understand this date on the NOA2.

Any clarification from someone would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks as always!!!

The embassy will extend the expiration date.

Consular officers have the authority to extend the validity another four months, multiple times, if needed. Visa adjudication is a Consular function, not an Embassy function. There are some small countries where Consular officers do visa adjudication at Embassies but more commonly such services are provided at "Consulates".

For instance, no fiance or spouse visas are issued from the US Embassy in Canada. This is true of nearly all but the smallest of countries.
