Hello, I am filing the I-129f petition for my fiance who lives in Colombia. I would appreciate if someone could inform me if the "fiance letter of intent" form is for both of us to fill out. Do i have him fill it out, send it back to me and then send it in my packet with the I-129f petition? Thank You

You both have to sign and date the letter's of intent. It is to clearly show each of you want to marry each other. If you look at the checklist for the 129F it gives you a page by page breakdown of what is needed.

You can go with one letter in which you both sign, but I just took the example letter, modified the information and emailed the PDF to my fiancee. She signed/dated and mailed it back. I swapped our names around on the letter and signed and dated my own version, so there is one letter from me and one from my fiancee in our packet submission.

While this may or may not be true, the instructions specifically say:

Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e) whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission, and copies of any evidence you wish to submit to establish your mutual intent;

I will call your attention to the pluralization of the word statement!

Statements just means you must both sign/date a document where each of you state intent to marry each other, so one document with combined statements and two signatures and dates would work.

However, in my case I had to mail it off anyways for a signature and date, so two separate sheets made it easier and it's only one extra piece of paper.

To you maybe, to me maybe, but we are talking about the USCIS and RFE's for stranger things have been issued....

Yeah, you can't help stupidity. This is the same organization who rejected petitions postmarked before the end of July, stating that the incorrect fees were submitted.

If there is any question at all always follow the route with the least amount of possible problems, which in this case is two separate letters, one from each side of the couple - signed/dated and make sure the statements reflect the correct names and order.

The K-1 guide does a pretty good job of covering all of this :thumbs:
