Thailand Camp Birth Certificate

Hi all,

I am hoping someone out there can help me with this matter.

Yesterday my wife and I went to the immigration office for an interview I-130. Everything was fine. But in order for them to send my wife the Green Card we have to mail them the birth certificate.

My wife was born in the refugee camp in Thailand. During that time they didn't issue her a birth certificate. Can you anyone help me or show me where to obtain those birth certificate or is there any other way that i can solve it. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!

it sounds like my situation. I was born in Indonesia in a refugee camp and did not have a birth certificate as well. What my parents did was going to a notary office and made a certified statement which is a replacement for my birth certicate. It worked for the german naturalization as well as for K1 and AOS.

You might want to try that.

The issuance of birth certificates in Thailand began in Bangkok in 1917. Records of birth are often lacking for people born in Bangkok before World War II and for those born in other areas of the country up until the 1970s. Birth Certificates are issued by "Amphur," (geographic subdivision roughly equivalent to a county in the U.S.) district authorities having jurisdiction over the place of birth. There may be a fee for this service.

A Thai citizen older than 15 and born in Thailand, whose birth was not registered, must present in its stead a household registration, together with a Thai national identity card ("bat prachachon"), and may also be required to submit additional proof of the claimed relationship.

Thank you for response and help HappyOne. We present them a Affidiavit from her parents and notorize by australian notorizer too, but they still asking for the a birth certficate or some letter explain why she doesn't have a birth certificate while was born in the refugee camp.

However, i will stop by the Thai consulate tomorrow and ask them for help and we'll see how much they can help us.
