Hi, I have went to my final interview in the beginning of June 2007 for adjustment of status and permanent residency. They have approved it and told us the green card should come with mail in about a month. It is almost 3 monts now and I have not received anything yet. I have called USCIS 3 times and everytime I call people tell me different things, but basically they said, they dont have any information, because the case is not with them anymore it has been forwarded (didnt say where?) and told me that an immigration officer will write me a letter which should take about 45 to 60 days!!!! I am desprate right now, because nobody can tell me anything about the greencard. I dont want to wait that long, not knowing anything? Did somebody had a similar case or can help me with this? Thanks

Definitely make an infopass appointment.

Did you ever receive a welcome letter? What does your last online update say?

No, no welcome letter either. It doesnt state anything that happened after the interview.

Same thing happened to us. Said we'd get GC in the mail in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I called the local office we'd taken the interview and found out they had wife and childs A#s screwed up.

Took doing biometrics 2 more times before they fixed it.

If I hadn't called we may still have been waiting!

As for calling USCIS and their reference to your case being transferred, it was transferred to your district office when you had your interview. Files should still be there.

Definitely make an Infopass appointment to find out what is going on.

The district office is in atlanta and that is also, where we went for the interview. But all the documents always coming from missouri...

Missouri transfers the files prior to your interview so that the staff there can go through your paperwork when you're there at your interview. Your paperwork is in Atlanta. Regardless, make an infopass appointment. While you were given verbal approval at your interview, you did not receive any other updates (e.g. card production ordered or welcome letter).

Onother problem that will arise out of not having my greencard is that I will have to apply for my extension of working permit, because it states in the documents that it has to be applyed 6 months before expiration.

You can apply for EAD renewal up to 6 months prior to expiration, but is not required. Many people on VJ have applied 90-120 days prior to expiration and were essentially ok. It really is important for you to get a straight answer about the approval/greencard so you know how to proceed.

I had a situation like that when I was in your shoes. I did everything and got different answers everytime. Later I found out what the possible reason was. They told me it was sent to the address on my application but it was returned to them stating that I didnt live in that address. i wondered where that came from. The problem was that we lived in an apartment complex, and only my wife's name was on the mail box. Government mails are often returned when ur name is not stated on the mail box, implying that u probably dont live there. I would suggest u ask them to resend it, and then make sure ur name is on the mailbox so it doesnt get returned again. Cheers...
