Hi everyone, I am a new member on VJ. :)

I was wondering, does it matter if I have a job during the K-1 process?

Do the consuls ask about that during the interview?

I am thinking about quitting my current job after I get my packet 3, so I can spend time with my family and friends, and also prepare all the stuff before leaving.

Thank you guys! GOOD LUCK!! :star:

Hi,

I can't imagine it matters at all. They need to know the petitioner has a job or co-sponsor so they can support you when you move to the USA, but I don't think they care if you are employed. I think they only ask us for our employment history to check for large, suspicious gaps when we might have been getting up to no good! I would just quit, and enjoy your time in your home country with friends and family.

it doesnt matter if you u are jobless or what. they were a lot who quit their jobs prior to the interview and they made it. mostly, that matter is not being asked during interview.

good luck!

Your plan is a common one and presents no problem at interview.

As the beneficiary, I kept my current job throughout the visa process, and the consulate officer didn't refer to it at all at the interview. The only reason it was ever brought up was because I'd switched jobs after the G-325A had been submitted, and he said it wasn't an issue.
