Interviewer asked for marriage certificate, divorce decree and proof of relationship. Sent in all documents with her passport like they asked. 5 weeks no response.

I'm getting so frustrated with the K1 visa process. Did everything correctly in addition to hiring a company to help with the K1 visa process. Finally was down to the interview and she took in all the documents they normally ask for. The financial documents and further proof of us meeting again and printing out 100s of pictures and screenshots of chat logs.  The interviewer assistant took the divorce decree and never returned it to my fiancee. The main interviewer said that was one of the documents she didn't have. Also the interviewer never asked for proof of relationship but put down that was one of the reasons her K1 visa was denied. My fiancee had a huge binder full of proof. I asked her why she didn't give it to her and she said she never asked for it. Then the interviewer asked for a marriage certificate for that we already had a divorce decree for and that was 25 years ago. We sent in all 3 documents they asked for and her passport. We haven't gotten a response in 5 weeks.

Another thing that was really weird my fiancee told me about the interview. The interviewer asked my fiancee 4 times how much money I make per year? She didn't ask about our relationship or when we were getting married. She  kept asking her why didn't she know how much I made because she had the financial documents before coming to the interview. The interviewer had my financial documents so I don't see the reasoning behind her asking 4 times. Its like she was trying to start some argument between me and my fiancee.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do next? Has something similar happened to someone else?

You just have to wait until the visa is issued.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Why did you hire a company to help you?  It's denied or you got 221g?

When I first started the process I hired a company to do help with gathering all the paperwork I needed. They said out of 20K visas they processed, not a single interviewer asked for a marriage certificate on a marriage that ended 25 years ago and had the divorce decree for.

We were IR-1 spousal visa, but we uploaded all evidence to her immigration portal, and only brought hard copies of the few required docs (her passport, my passport, etc.).  That way whoever is reviewing the file sees the full amount of evidence, whether it's the interviewer or someone else in another location.  The money question is weird--not to mention irrelevant--if you make above the minimum threshold to support your family, your salary shouldn't matter.  Could it be proof of a relationship?  Eh, I strongly disagree.  I've had 2 fiances, one American and one Filipina (my wife) and would not have shared that info to them before we married.  Probably moreso for an oversees union.  In fact, I would argue that digging too deeply into a partner's finances could be a huge red flag.  Asking that question 4 times makes me think there's something else going on.. Do you make abnormally high or low money?  Do you have a steady job or are you a day trader or bitcoin bro?  Any tax problems?

My wife would have had no idea how to answer that at the interview and probably still doesn't :D  :D  Nothing terribly secretive, just more old fashioned.  I am the breadwinner and provide for her needs, and she doesn't worry about money.  Works out great so far!  Could be someone just wanted to postpone or deny the application.. either for a valid reason or not.  Hence the request for a marriage certificate for a union that ended 2 decades ago.

But unless there is something suspicious with your income situation, it seems to me uploading your evidence to the portal would go a long way towards showing proof.
