Hey!

A question for anyone who has had sent a PI to NVC recently to get the case number. It’s recommended to write them no earlier than 14 days.

So I was wondering, when you did it, how long did it take for them to answer you and send the case number? And if they did, was your case sent to embassy the next week (they send batches to embassies every two weeks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)?

I’ve calculated that I should be sending them a PI on Friday. They will send the batch to all the embassies on Tuesday and Wednesday the week after. Do you think I would be considered as a too new case to be sent on those days?

Thank you in advance!

There's no way to tell, even after you get your case number when it will be sent to the embassy. It depends on the workload of the embassy and how many cases they tell the NVC they are ready to receive. For us, it took two inquiries to get the case number. The first one, they responded after about 3 or 4 days and said that they had our case but had not entered it into the system yet. I inquired about a week later and they gave us the case number. We did not make the batch shipment the week after and did not get the K-1 FTP and status change to "In Transit" until 3 weeks after getting our case number.

For me, I contacted them the first time 5 weeks in. They responded in 2-3 days. They told me to contact them after 60 days after NOA2.

I contacted them the second time 10 weeks in. They again responded in 2-3 days. They told me they never received my file from USCIS and that they will contact USCIS to see where it is at and that no further action is required from me at this time. They mentioned that they will notified all relevent contacts after the file is entered into their system. I expect that is through mail, but I have yet to receive any mails from them. It has already been 12 weeks since my NOA2. Feels like I'm the odd one out, but others like me might be staying silent.

Good luck.

It will be via email that they contact you.

Tbf NVC are pretty good at replying to PI’s.

On the other hand, their replies are pretty much ‘cut & paste’ generic, so if their reply doesn’t contain your case number then don’t read in to it too much. Just wait a week and try again. I sent my first PI after 4 weeks then followed up every Monday morning
Eventually after 83 days (12 weeks) NVC said they received my petition but hadn’t entered it into the system. 1 week later they replied with the new case number and it was sent (in transit) the very same day!!! So it seems there really is no “one size fits all” rule? 😕

I sent a PI after not hearing anything from USCIS for 60 days. Within 24 hours they sent a reply with my NVC case number. No way to know how long they have had it since I never got an update from USCIS. I assume at least 2 weeks since that is the minimum.

Good deal! What does the case status say when you check it on CEAC?

Says At NVC and provides instruction to log in to CEAC with case and invoice number.

You won't get an invoice number for K-1 because there is no need for you to log in. I would do another PI and ask them to confirm that they have your correct email addresses and provide them yours and your fiancée's email addresses. This will flow down to the embassy when they send the case to them and will ensure that you both get any and all email notifications from them.
