I lived in Canada for 2 years (2016–2018) and I’m now applying for the K1 visa. I’m unsure whether I need to provide a Canadian criminal record check or if getting just the NZ one will be enough.

I tried to google but I'm quite confused about how to get it. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Any place you lived for more than 6 months after the age 16, you will need a police report when it comes time for the embassy interview stage

You'll have to find a local fingerprinting agency that can take your fingerprints and submit the request to the Canadian RCMP on your behalf.  The request won't be "regular" records from the RCMP - it will be type - other and will include the entire holdings.

Looks like these guys do it: https://thefingerprintroom.com/fingerprinting-services-new-zealand/

Any reason you're interested in a K-1 versus a CR-1 visa?
