I-130 approved last month now I-129F just got approved

My wife called the NVC in New Hampshire and they said they just sent her the paperwork and that her interview will be in Montreal. She is from Edmonton so this makes no sense.

I just checked and the Montreal waitlist for an interview is 5-7 months!!!! That's insane I can't take this anymore.

In the meantime I got an email today saying her I-129F was just approved what should I do about the I-129F? let it continue it's course will that be quicker?

Well actually this whole thing has been a huge suprise to me. My Brother and Sister went through this a few years ago and both of them had their spouse from India in a little less than a year. My wife is from canada how is it quicker to get someone here from a 3rd world country compared to a neighboring one I don't know.

I think my first mistake in this process was not filing the I-129 as soon as I recieved my NOA1 for my I-130. This caused a huge delay and I suspect she would've been here by now had I not made that mistake.

Congratulations on the approval. I don't know if there is a shorter wait for K3 interviews, but you may want to research this. If it is a big difference in wait times, you may be able get a K3 visa for your wife, get her to the USA on that, and then continue with the IR-1/CR-1 process...she might then be able to go back later for her IR-1/CR-1 interview...that way you could at least wait it out together in the USA.

Congratulations on both the approval and for the important knowledge, you've gained. I'll say the following more for anybody else who reads this and for you benefit during the rest of your process.

Your first mistake was that you joined this board months before you got married but didn't take the time and effort to learn everything you could about the process. If you had done that, you probably wouldn't have made your second big mistake, failing to file the I-129F right away. And let me say this. If K3 is your route, back then, you would want to fill out your I-129F and have it ready to mail the same day the NOA1 arrives.

Now, the decision on whether to file the I-129F at all, is far more complicated but at least if you decide to do so, you can file both petitions together. There is no need to wait for proof of filing the I-130 at one service center before filling the I-129F at the Chicago PO Box. Both petitions go to the same place, so your proof of filing the first is in the envelope with the second.

Vin, My wife is from Edmonton and we are hoping to be processed in Vancouver. Let me explain what happened here. Montreal is the ONLY consulate that processes CR/IR-1 and both Montreal and Vancouver process K visas. So, since your I-130 got approved and you pushed it along by paying all the fees, etc., NVC had no choice by to route your file to the east coast. I had this discussion with another member on this board more tam a month ago (i hope you had seen it) and now i am interested to see what will happen with your 129F. That is will they send it to Montreal (along the 130) or will be sent to Vancouver (as it should and as you hopefully requested on the application).

Good luck and definitely let the 129F continue its course since you might luck out if it goes west..

Anyways, about your I130 and I129. If your I130 is already on its way to the embassy and it's a 5 month wait at the embassy, I am not sure if I129 would get you the interview any faster. On the other hand if I130 is still being processed at VSC, then may be your I129 can beat it to the embassy.
