Our K1 petition was filed this week, my fiance didn't expect them to try to take the funds till next week so he didn't put it on the CC yet in cause other random things hit. He was going to put it today (sunday), however USCIS tried to run the payment on Friday so of course it was declined as the funds weren't on the card yet. We know that the policy is they try for the payment once then reject according to the USCIS website and send back the package. Has anyone had this happen? And if yes how long did it take for them to send the package back? Should we just try to refile with a new package?

Personally, I would just file with a new/updated package.

Ah, I’m so sorry that happened — USCIS can be really quick to reject for payment issues, even if the intent is clear. When this happens, they usually send the whole package back within 2–4 weeks. If you haven’t gotten the package yet, I’d wait a few more days before deciding whether to refile. If the rejection notice includes instructions, you may be able to resubmit without starting over. Let us know when it arrives and what it says — happy to help you from there.
