My son's interview finally has been scheduled, I have a couple of questions regarding his interview. As the petitioner do I have to be with him during the interview? Or can my wife travel back home to be with him instead? If approved, what other steps I need to take to not mess things up? Or just pack his bags and book a ticket for him?

No, the petitioner does not have to be there.  What other steps would depend on the country he's coming from, but you don't say.  Don't book a ticket until the passport with visa is in his hand and you have verified everything is correct.

If a step child, he will get a green card after entry. If he is your natural child receiving citizenship upon arrival, just apply for a US Passport after arrival.  There will be no green card.

Sorry for the late reply, he's my biological son and our application as of yesterday is with the Moroccan embassy.  I read a little bit ago about filling for N-600 for a citizenship certificate. My wife only received her green card last year, so I assume she cannot leave the country for more than 6 months.
You mentioned extra steps, what are you referring to?

I mentioned that to answer your questions about extra steps, we would need to know the country.  Now that it is known, somebody can answer about morocco.  You filing the N-600 is an option, not a requirement.  You can just apply for the passport. It's your choice, once he enters to live in the USA with you, the US Citizen Parent.

Optional, but highly recommended in 2025 given all that's happening immigration wise.

No

Can his grandmother or aunt take him? Or it's better to have one of the parents goes with him? He's almost two year old, I'm not sure what they're going to "ask him", I assume they're going to ask whoever is going with him to the interview.

This is a question to ask the Consulate directly.  At most, the child will be asked if he knows you and wants to go to the USA. Presumably, grandma can't bring him to the USA, so one of his parents will need to do that.  It can be a short trip, as visas are usually in hand within a few days of the interview.

Would you say 10 days is enough after the interview date for the return flight? Or this is cutting it short? Just switched jobs and I can't take more than 2 weeks. Also he doesn't speak yet he only knows some words.

10 days isn’t likely to be enough. Can’t your wife go over and bring him back?

The only way for her to go is by quitting her job since her manager only gave her 10 days, despite telling her previously that she'll give her more than 2 weeks but now have changed her mind. This is sad, we've been waiting over a year now for this time just for this to not work as we expected.

Okay, so if you both can take two weeks leave then why not stagger it? One of you goes for two weeks, with the other having the following two weeks off.

We didn't think of that, I'll run some flights and see where we at.

You may not even need the second flight, but could book the time off just in case. And if the visa does come back in the first two weeks then it can just be a lovely couple of weeks with him after he arrives in the US.

Probably enough but never buy tickets until the visa is in hand, unless you are willing to pay the change fee, just in case.
