Hi All,

My fiancé and I ended up having to schedule the medical exam 1 before the interview. I was just wondering if anyone else scheduled it a week out or so and if they had any problems in Manila. I saw a post from 2023 where they did not, but wanted to just check back in.

Jaycel completed her medical 6 days before the interview and there were no problems. As long and she is not flagged for suspicion of TB it should be fine because for K-1 applicants, at the end of the 2nd day of the medical exam they still give you a sealed envelope to hand-carry to the interview so it's not like you have to wait for them to transmit the report over or anything like that.

if you don’t mind me asking did she ever have TB in the past? My fiancé did years ago  so I’ve always worried if he might get flagged for something ‘suspicious’ on the x-ray, even if he’s healthy now. I have thought about him seeing a lung doctor ahead of time at st lukes to clear him before the offical visa exam but it felt extra when he's healthy now.

She did not ever have it... The good thing at SLEC now (from what I'm told) is that they do the Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) Test for TB also and don't rely solely on the X-Ray like they used to. He will have to disclose his history and that should explain if they see any old scarring on the X-Ray. The thing is with SLEC is that it seems hit or miss depending on who the radiologist is reading the X-Ray. This was the biggest thing we were nervous about in the whole embassy process.
