Absolutely remember ongoing issues and unfinished conversations from Part 2, and carry on with them here!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

@sapkde9 Congrats!!! Such great news! Per your last question, personally I would call the medical office and ask. These medical offices are really used to it, they do so many, so they probably know. The ones in Montreal were super knowledgable when we went. Also it depends if they send the results electronically or if they give you a sealed envelope at the end. Cheers!

Is there a way to update this thread name to just say ‘EB’ instead of ‘EB-2’?

Unfortunately, not uncommon.  There were a couple of people here that got caught up in this last year.  Interviews in September, but no visa until the new fiscal year began in October.

Hi all,

Good afternoon

Please for people preparing for Consular interview for Eb2-NIW.

(1) When did you start looking for jobs in the US to make intent. Is it before getting interview letter or after getting interview letter.

(2). When looking for jobs in the US, do you have to state on your CV that you are in Canada or do you state you are in the United States so that recruiters can be interested in your profile.

Thank you very much,

Regards

Hi everyone,

Context:

My priority date is August 2023, and I was first documentarily qualified (DQ) in March 2024. Earlier this year, I added my newborn child to my case, and as a result, the NVC updated my DQ date to April 2025. Essentially, this has delayed my interview by at least a year.

Question:

The passport from Country A that I used for the DS-260 will expire within the next 6 months. Given current wait times, I don’t expect to be scheduled for an interview before it expires.

In the meantime, I’ve obtained a Canadian passport. My question is: Can I use my Canadian passport for the interview and medical exam if Country A passport expires before my interview scheduling, even though the DS-260 was originally submitted with the Country A passport?

I’d prefer not to renew the Country A passport because the process is extremely burdensome and costly. To renew, I’d have to travel from Alberta to Ottawa, pay high passport and administrative fees, and provide fingerprints in person. (I had to go through this process 5 years ago. Unfortunately, my original country doesn’t have a digital system or national fingerprint database.). Basically, if you live in Antarctica and Ottawa is the only consulate for passport processing for Country A, you have to travel down to renew, even if you are renewing 2days after the first renewal/passport issue.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? If so, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience or any advice you may have.

Thanks in advance!

@Qwerty1

I recently completed my medical examination using my Canadian passport, even though I had used my renounced (Previous Nationality) passport when filing my case with NVC.

I confirmed with my attorney that such situations are common. They advised that I should carry both my old, renounced passport and my new Canadian passport. You may also need to provide proof of your other citizenship. In my specific situation, my old citizenship was renounced.

I hope this information is helpful.

Today, in an external chat of people waiting for interviews in Montreal, someone mentioned that they received an invitation with a DQ of August 2024 at the end of July. He has a visa in the EB1-A category, and he doesn’t have an expedited process.

Hi Everyone,

EB2-NIW (ROW) - PD: Dec 2023 (will be current on 1st Oct 2025), DQ: July 2024.

Question: Based on the IV tool (MTL), EB cases from May 2024 are being scheduled. Should I expect to be scheduled within the next 2-3 months? An attorney mentioned that Canada (MTL) is messy, and some of their EB cases with current PD/DQ have been waiting since 2023, while others are expedited. I am quite worried if that is the case, as I was hoping to be scheduled by the end of the year. Any feedback or insights would be appreciated.
