Hello,

My fiancé lives in a country that cannot travel freely to the United States. I see the threads about it being okay to visit but I wanted to ask if people had an experience in the past of applying for a B-1 Travel Visa while the K-1 Application is pending.

Is this possible? Will this have any negative impact on the K-1 if the B-1 is rejected?

Thank you.

What country?  Anyone can apply for a B2, but a pending K-1 indicates immigration intent......and it could signal that the applicant is trying to usurp the K-1 wait.  A denial would have no impact on a K-1.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks for your reply!

India, we want to spend Diwali together in October and the K-1 likely won't be completed till then and my work won't let me make another trip to India as I've already been 3 times this year so we were pursuing a B1/B2 so that she could potentially visit.

You can try.  Good luck.

She can certainly apply

Has she already applied and got an interview booked?  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/global-visa-wait-times.html
