The Arkansas Department of Public Safety announced they have made an arrest on Wednesday in connection with the killing of a married couple in front of their children at Devil’s Den State Park.

Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) have arrested James Andrew McGann, 28, of Springdale for his alleged part in the double homicide that happened on Saturday.

He’s accused of killing Clinton Brink, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, while they hiked with their daughters. Their daughters, aged 7 and 9, are now with family.
Fox News affiliate Fox 23 reports that McGann was working at a local school in Arkansas and had recently moved to the area.

Those poor kids...I can't imagine the lifetime of sadness they'll experience.

Not to be morbid or strange, but why target the parents and not the girls?

Too many teachers turning up in the news with nefarious behaviors.

perpetrator had
- questionable behavior with girls while a teacher of a 5th grade class
- parents that were killed were accompanied by their 2 girls, ages 7 and 9
- the news story gives me the impression is area is remote, not many people around, and has zero cell phone coverage
"the park's rugged terrain and lack of cellphone service delayed their response and public alerts."

maybe i've seen too many dark youtube videos about crime, but it appears to me the suspect had a dark plan.

Oh, I believe it.  I am just wondering what happened to the girls/how his plan was foiled.  They haven't yet said how the parents were killed.  But the girls - did he bail because someone came upon them or did the girls manage to run and find someone, despite the area being remote, to essentially save them? Not much mention of them.  Maybe for the best, tbh.

It's weird because he allegedly just got into a car and drove off.
