It  sounded like he has no option for a joint sponsor. But he wanted to know if can apply day 1 after getting his job offer.  I would assume, the requirement with a joint sponsor will still be to supply several months if not 6 months of pay stubs depending on the details of his job, joint sponsor,  and other factors.

If you do the K-1 visa, how do you plan to support the immigrant beneficiary for the duration they'd be unable to work during AOS?  It can be up to one year.
