I have a rather complex question. My wife is an American and we were married in 2003 when she was living in the US and I was in Canada. Later in 2003 I received my k3 visa and moved to the US, where I received my permanent residency about 2 years later.

We lived in the US until I returned to Canada in 2011. My American wife followed me a month later and applied for permanent residency here, which she received in 2005.
She has a daughter and grandchildren in Texas and we are considering returning to the US. I am just wondering how complicated it would be to return? To add to that complication, I renounced my US permanent residency back in 2003 after returning to Canada.

We have been married for 22 years. Thanks for your help!

AOS was officially approved via email notice from USCIS on August 10th/2005, 622 days from the filing of the I-130 in Nebraska on November 26/2003, the very first day that we started our immigration journey.

Received 10 year green card on August 15/2005.

Our thanks to the creators of visajourney and all those here who helped us along the way..May God bless you and strengthen you on your visajourney....and now life goes on.

(Jeremiah 29:11-13)" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

Your US citizen wife will have to file an I-130 petition with USCIS for you, and once this is approved (14-16 months currently), you will apply for a spousal visa (IR-1) and interview in Montreal which means more waiting.  Plan on about 2 years for the entire process.  If your wife has a written job offer from a US employer, you could first ask Montreal if they will accept a DCF (direct consular filing) of the I-130.  DCF, which is at the discretion of the Montreal consulate, would speed up the process considerably (3-6 months).  Also do a search here on VJ for threads about your wife establishing a US domicile, as Montreal is very strict on that.  She may have to move to Texas before you get your visa in order to show US domicile.  Good luck!

@carmel34 laid out your options for a return to the US assuming you are looking to do it permanently.  As to turning in your GC (I assume your date was wrong in your post) via the I407, this will not complicate a new I130 petition from your wife.

Good Luck!
