Hey, all. My fiancé and I received our NOA2 mid-June. It's taking 60-90 days for shipping to DOS/NVC. My fiancé (beneficiary) was living in Turkey, so we had Ankara as embassy for interview. My fiancé has since moved back to his home country of Morocco, and we need to update the location to the consulate in Casablanca. I keep looking online (USCIS website, groups I'm in, etc.) but am unsure of when or where is the most appropriate time/entity to notify of this change. I did a PI and of course as NVC has not received it yet, they said they cannot locate the case and will "work with USCIS" (it's been two weeks and heard nothing back). Is anyone able to assist with how to go about changing this to minimize delay? We really don't want it going to the Ankara embassy and then taking longer to transfer. Thanks in advance.

U received NOA2 so you need to notify NVC of the change to Morocco to get the right case # assigned to Casa CSB2025xxxxxxxx needs to be

He also will need a criminal report from Turkey if he lived there for longer than 12 months

BTW Casa wants originals of all required documents at the interview

Thanks for responding; we know about the police certificate, and the original documents needed for the interview. My question is, to clarify, should I wait until I get notification that it's been received by NVC before I do a PI to let them know about the change? I am just trying to be as proactive as possible. Since it has another month and a half before it's shipped, is it worth contacting USCIS at all? Thank you.

you should send notice to USCIS and NVC (with current case #) saying you will interview in home country of Morocco

If NVC has the case and assigns the new #, it will be for Turkey and then you have to ask Casa to accept it and notify Turkey/ this takes months

On top of trying to email and get query answered by Casa embassy as they are slow slow slow to respon

Keep doing a PI to NVC with your I-797 approval receipt number in order to get your case number. Include the need to change the embassy to Casablanca. The following is what I found on travel.state.gov:

How do I transfer my Immigrant Visa case from one embassy or consulate to another?

If you would like to transfer your Immigrant Visa (IV) case to another embassy or consulate, please follow the steps below:

  • If your case is at a U.S. embassy or consulate, contact the potential gaining U.S. embassy or consulate in writing to request a transfer of your case.  Please include a justification for the request.  If you are not a resident of that country, specify that in your request.

  • If your petition is being processed at the National Visa Center (NVC), contact the NVC to request the transfer.  NVC will transfer cases to another IV processing post if parties provide a written request along with the address in the requested country and the proof of eligibility (citizenship/legal residency in the requested country or other documentation). This can be provided at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry.  In limited circumstances, NVC may need to contact you for additional eligibility requirements.  Note that transferring your case might not result in immediate processing as cases are processed in order based on the date the case became documentarily qualified.

  • If you are requesting a transfer for a K Visa, the receiving Embassy or Consulate has the discretion to approve or deny the acceptance of a K visa application from an applicant outside the consular district.  Contact the potential gaining U.S. embassy or consulate in writing to request a transfer of your case and include the reason for the transfer request.  If you paid the MRV fee at the original post and the transfer request to a new post is subsequently approved, a new visa fee will be required.
