Hi everyone,

I’ve already received my NOA2 and have been waiting for my case number for about 2 months now.

I’m planning to submit a public inquiry to the NVC, but I’m wondering:

1. is it okay if the beneficiary submits the public inquiry to ask Case Number, or does it have to be the petitioner?

2. how long does it usually take to receive the case number after submitting the public inquiry?

Thanks in advance for your help

Either the petitioner or the beneficiary can ask for a case number from the NVC.  Have you tried calling the NVC and speaking to an operator or a supervisor?  That might net results quicker than going the public inquiry route.

Have you checked that your USCIS status has changed from “Approved” to “Sent to Department of State (DOS)”? That’ll tell you whether USCIS has sent your application to NVC (DOS) yet. The average wait right now is over two months between NOA2 and Sent, so you’re probably less than a month away from receiving that change in status. Might not even need to contact NVC yet if your application is still with USCIS.

So from what I can tell on the trends here and with my own case, the history comes out to 86 days from NoA2 til NVC recieves, my own case is currently sitting at 112 days though and still no "NVC recieved", so the process is falling further behind.

Further dividing the NoA2 to NVC Recieved alot of people are reporting about 2 months from NoA2 to "Case sent to the departement of state" (NVC), took our case 76 days.

The waiting is rough and it seems things are getting slower and slower, just hang in there!
