So you couldn't go there with a bag? Not even a backpack? I'm confused of how I am supposed to get my documents safely to the U.S. embassy in Sweden if I travel from Latvia :D Do you remember if they had a place where to put at least a backpack?

I checked out from the hotel before walking over to the embassy in the morning, but the hotel kept my backpack behind the front desk so I could just walk back and pick it up before leaving Sthlm.

The only thing I brought to the embassy was my phone and a small folder with my visa related documents.

I brought my documents inside a canvas bag. But people in line did bring bags in, but they have to look into them through the window and then scan and check them, so I would bring as little as possible. Stockholm also says you cannot bring your phone, and you can, you just cannot take any photos or video.

Yes phones are not permitted inside the embassy, but they are allowed in the security booth where they also have storage for them.

They do not, however, have storage for bags, hence why the checklist email mentions lockers at the train/bus station for potential luggage.

"All visitors to the Embassy are subject to airport-type screening.  When planning your visit here, bring only what is needed for your business with the Consular Section to speed security screening.  All items are subject to inspection and your wait time at the Embassy depends on the items you and other visitors bring.  We do not have storage facilities at the Embassy. We suggest you make use of storage facilities at the main bus/train station in Stockholm (Centralstationen) or at the airport. Cellphones may be stored in lockers at the entrance, will be returned upon your departure from the Consular Section."

So for anyone going - don't bring any bags, but phones are fine and they store them for you until you come back out.
